Is it really that hard to understand....? I've read through your earlier post and the responses you received made perfect sense to me.

You pay someone for their points ~ they make the reservation for you, it sounds as though you *the renter* cannot contact Disney yourself it's all done through the DVC owner.

PP pretty much said how it would work... Not sure what size room you're looking at but if it is a "Value" room, don't count on getting it this late. Those values go fast.

Right, just an example as I know september is way too close. But tbh, that's going to be $169 a night right? isthat good?

39 x $13 this guy wants.....

isn't it cheaper with a resident discount, or same? TY

And yes, it is confusing. Please don't post if you're annoyed iwth the questions I'm asking. I don't want to bother you.

So NOT helpful or polite ======= the REPLY above. Just called an owner and he said he STILL gets confused.

It depends on what you're willing to pay for. You can probably get cheaper at a Value or Moderate resort, but $507 (39x13) is cheap for a Deluxe resort, which is what you're getting with DVC. I also looked at the calculator you used above and the only thing I saw for 39 points was a value studio for 4 nights, not 3 (9/20-9/24). So that would make it $126 a night, not $169.

Like PPs have said, that is all relative and up to you. If you want to stay deluxe, then yes that is a great price. If you would normally have stayed in a value, then maybe that's not so great for you. It is a way to stay deluxe at a moderate (or even value at times) price.

If that is the rate, 39 x $13, then yes, that's the price. It would be wise for you to contact David (dvcrequest.com) with your questions and to see if this is do-able for you. DVC villas book very early, up to 11 months out, so timing is important. If you are serious, then David can help you along.

thanks! it's a good / great price (was not counting it as 4 nights, my bad). For sure september will be gone, I'll ask David for spring or later 2012. YEAH!

you can always rent from an owner for about $10 per point. I wouldn't pay a service a premium for something you can get directly from an owner for a reduced rate. But that's just me.

Right, but there's the contract, trus and paypal I'd need.

how do you even know who is an owner?

I am an owner but I never seem to have any extra points. You can go over to the rent trade board. I have purchased points from an oner once and it went smooth but it was only a few and the poster has been around for a few years. Some level of trust needs to be there. If you sign up for Davids newsletter sometimes there are specials too. Good luck. And yes it can be confusing

Remember DVCrequest has a minimum rental is USUALLY 44 points. So 39 may not be doable ....

you need a contract (although as an owner I don't use one) and trust and paypal to use David's service as well. Correct?

Go down to the rent/trade board here on the Dis. It's pretty secure as only active board members can even post on it.

I'm there (rent/trade) . Some of the people posting CAN'T get PMs as they're too 'new' i guess. ? Probably go with Dave, waiting on his email. :3dglasses

Hi RVCHAT,

You probably will find fewer dvc owners renting points right now on the rent/trade boards. I've been a member of this site and a dvc owner for 10 years, recently disboards changed the rules that a member needs 50 posts spread out evenly over 6 months in order to "advertise" their points for rent.

I tend to browse the disboards and only post when I feel I have something to add. Not another "Is the food at the HDDR any good" will I reply to. I have rented points twice via the boards and found it very useful and easy. But with the new rules, I will be more willing to add advise whereas before I felt it was not needed.

That being said, while the rent/trade boards don't seem very busy right now, check back for your next trip, you'll find many renters with past positive experience, references, a willingness to rent any number of points and accept personal/certified checks, and a going rate of $10 / per point!

Good luck - hope you can stay DVC, you'll love it.

(this is not a overt attempt to sell my points! Don't have any extra anyway)
