We rented two DVC rooms and one person, possibly two can’t go in one of the rooms due to divorce (9 of us) we split 5 and 4. The room with 4, the wife is the contact of the contract. Will this affect anything if she does not go? What should we do? Can we move people around? Sorry, newbie here.

Only the member who booked the reservation for you can make changes. Changing the lead guest requires calling in and speaking with a representative, which can take time. Changing other guests can be done online and is pretty simple.

If the only issue is that the lead guest on the reservation might not show up, that's not going to cause any problems.

Any guest listed on a room reservation can check into that room. You can also check-in online or in the Disney app prior to arrival and go straight to the room. And after check-in, Disney does not check who sleeps in what room.

Doesn’t the lead guest get the room ready text? If so the non lead guest would have to check at the desk to get the room number.
I’d be concerned about drama arising from the soon to be ex getting a room ready text for a trip they were no longer joining so I’d probably at least ask the DVC member to change the lead guest to make things simpler, phone wait times for member services have been pretty short recently.

Actually, the room ready text will go to the number in the MDE account in which someone attached the reservation.

So, if it hasn’t yet been attached to someone not going it’s not an issue as someone e esle can add it.

But, even so, at the front desk they can update the number for the text and anyone registered on the room who is connected can see when the room is ready. My DD saw it for our recent stay before I did since I was hanging in the pool and she was eating lunch.

Interesting - I thought I used to be the only one who got texts, still wouldn’t want an ex to get a text w/ the room number, though.

Thank you everyone. I’m not sure which one will go, if either. It just is unfortunate that this is happening at this time. I purchased everyone’s tickets for Christmas….we are celebrating graduations from HS and college.

It's not like they bed check you, you could physically move people to whatever room you want. Obviously, bands and keys and phones are only going to work on the room they are checked into.

I would be careful with the lead guest. They have to present a credit card, like any hotel, and they can have to physically check in if there are issues. A lot of this can be done on the app, and we did it once forever ago. But for a first time guest, this might not be that simple. If the lead guest isn't going, I would ask the owner to change someone who is to lead guest. Everyone else can show up or not. I wouldn't try to get the owners to shuffle other people. It's a pain, it just doesn't matter than much, and changing lead guest is an easy request that can be done on chat.

This is only true if the check in has been done by lead guest with a credit card, that kind of thing. We all did this a long time ago, but first time guests have to set all this up, and this is Disney IT, so there can be issues.

Anyone on the reservation can get the room number. You log into the Disney app on your phone and you can see the room number and even unlock the door. I'd imagine anyone on the reservation would get a notification through the app when the room is ready, but, if not, they could simply keep checking the app to see when the room number shows up.
