I'm trying to get an idea when the absolute best time to go in late Nov. or the month of Dec. would be - advice please?

I realize that sometimes going on points is different from going on a regular reservation, so I'm seeking advice from the DVC owners.

How are crowds? Temps? and the reservation process for booking the first two weeks in Dec.?

Thanks for the help.:D

Its the most difficult time there is to book DVC rooms. I hope you are thinking of Dec '04, because you have little chance of getting that time this year.

We often go at this time. The weather is great, crowds non-existant and the Christmas decorations are all up. It really is one of the best times of the year to go. The points are about the lowest of the year. This makes the first two weeks of December the most difficult to reserve.

You have no chance this year. All DVC resorts have been full for a long time.

You may get lucky, you may find someone renting an already reserved unit, the only way yo be sure is to start planning for '04 very soon.

IMHO, the absolute best time to visit WDW is the time immediately after Thanksgiving through the first two full weeks of December. The crowds are non-existent, the weather is usually pleasant and the Holiday activities and decorations are truly something to see!

That said, Richyams is absolutely correct about the timing and difficulty of renting for this time. This time of the year is very popular with DVC members. Most accomodations fill up in the first month or two of the reservation window. Standard view rooms at the BWV often book up solid in the first day or two.

If you want to rent DVC points, you'll need to find an owner at the resort of your choice at least 12 months ahead of your desired stay. You'll want/need the owner to make the reservation for you when the 11 month reservation window first opens. Expect to pay at least the average rate per point ($10), and probably more ($12 +).

Good luck!

Thankyou - yes, I'm thinking for 2004. I wish it wasn't so hard to get others to commit to a vacation 11 months out - but if that is what I have to do, then that is what I have to do.

I know this has been discussed but I can't remember so here goes.......do you do a day by day ressie for the first 2 weeks of December to guarantee your dates? Or do you wait a few days, do 2 or 3 ressies and then try to link them? Thanks.:D

IMHO, it is only necessary to do day by day reservations if you want a standard view room at BWV. Otherwise, one call should do it unless you are planning to stay more than a week. YMMV.

We stay at BWV standard, so I always do day by day for the beginning of Dec. MS told me to do day by day for standard but for preferred waiting to the end would be OK. If you are staying over a week, I would do it every 3 days (except BWV standard or GV).

We've gone the first or second week of Dec the past 5 years, it's a great time to go! Crowds are low, the Christmas stuff is beautiful! The weather can by iffy - we've had low 80's on 3 trips, low 60's on one and a mixed bag last year. Last year we had alot of rain, the only trip with rain.

if you want the standard view at BWV yes - day by day reservations are necesary.\

VWL is probably also a day by day - ask the MS the first day especially if you call in the afternoon - they generally have an ideal by then how popular this week will be. if they say popular get ready to call every day - if she says there are plenty of rooms - then wait until your last day 11th months out to make your reservations. It is not necessary to link - just tell the MS when you make the reservations for that first day - she will put a note on your reservations - so you won't be send anything until after the final reservations is made.

BCV does not have enough history to see how busy it will be - but I would think it would be pretty busy too.

this is a very popular time for DVC members.

Thanksgiving is pretty popular too - it is probably one of the most popular holidays for DVC members and their guests.

OKW you can generally get without problems 11th month time. but don't wait until 6 months before - or it will filled (if not sooner) then too.

Family and I are going 1st week of December this year, and I did a day-by-day at BCV just to be safe. Had no problems whatsoever at my 11 month window. There were a couple of days where I had to call several times before I could reach Member Services, but once I did it was lickity-split in getting the reservations done.

We go home every year the week after Thanksgiving. Beautiful Christmas decoration's, weather, very little crowds. MVMCP is a must in the Magic Kingdom we do that Friday evening when we arrive. Also the Candlelight Procession ap EPCOT is also on our list of thing's to do. Visit all the resorts. At MGM the Osborne Lights in the back lot are very nice to (:( not opened this year due to work being done.)

Have a great Disney Day
