Has anyone referred someone that bought into the DVC and not gotten their referral bonus?
We referred a couple last October who bought into SSR and we haven't gotten anything yet from DVC. I have called my rep twice and I was told my name is down as a referree and it's coming it just takes a bit of time.
We didn't refer this other couple with this in mind but if its due us then its due us.
We would like to split it with the other couple on our next trip but it's taking forever.
Any information will be helpful.
Thank You:

I think I read somewhere that you are normally notified about the referral bonus 60-90 days after the CLOSING occurs. The person that you referred likely did not close until May or June. And the pure volume with SSR may have created an additional backlog.

I'd give it another couple of months.

What kind of bonus do you get for referrals?

The Great Lake State, Michigan, doesn't allow kickbacks for referrals. We found it quite disappointing that other states do.

Once while at VB, we took the tour to the ranch. We had a great time talking to some folks on the tour and kinda had them talked into taking the tour. Toward the end of the tour, we found out about the bonus when some folks from New York that had been listening the entire time (contributing nothing to the conversation), handed them a business card and told them to use their name as a referral. Smoke comes out of my ears everytime I think about it!

I didn't know DVC pays referral fee (or anything). My guide told me that DVC does not give incentive for referral.

What are the incentives for referrals?

Due to state laws, DVC is unable to offer the referral bonus in certain states. It is based upon the state in which the referrer (current DVC member) resides.

Here is the list of states that allow referrals:

Alabama, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisianna, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missisippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Bonuses are based upon the number of successful referrals in one calendar year. I believe that the calendar year is based upon the year in which the closing occurs.

1st referral-$200 Disney Dollars
2nd referral-$350 Disney Dollars
3rd referral-$500 Disney Dollars

Several weeks after closing, DVC will notify the referrer and offer several options for the bonus: receive the funds in cash (Disney Dollars), apply to next year's Annual Dues, or apply toward an add-on purchase.

We also received a mailing from DVC earlier this year indicating that for referrals in 2004, they were offering a special framed DVC pin set as an incentive.

Note that in order to be eligible for the referral, the prospective member MUST mention your name during the very first encounter with DVC--be it a tour, phone call, etc. Even if someone took a tour 5 years ago and has since done nothing, chances are DVC still has their name on file somewhere and you will not be eligible for a referral bonus on a purchase made today.
