We are a family of 5, myself 36, DH 35, DD 6, DD 5, DS 3. If we were to purchase a DVC would we be limited to where we could purchase due to our family size? I've heard conflicting reports about families of 5 or more being able to purchase anywhere and others needing to purchase only at specific resorts. In a nutshell, do we need to purchase enough points for a 2 bedroom villa or could we just purchase enough for a studio? Thanks.

You choose you home resort based upon which one is your favorite. You purchase the number of points based upon the size of your accommodations and when you vacation. If it were me I would stick to a two bedroom. Will everyone always be traveling together? How often will you vacation and stay in a DVC resort?

You purchase whatever resort you like best :goodvibes

You'll purchase the amount of points based on the accomodations you'll need --a 2BR based on size of your family unless at AKV-- how often you'll go, for how long of a trip and time of year you go. Then you can decide how many points you need to go every year or every other year with banking points.

My family of 4, Me 37, DH38, DD14 & DS11 will not stay in studios anymore. That's why we bought into DVC. Our plan is to mostly stay in 1BR's for the extra space and sometimes in a 2BR so 1 kid won't have to sleep on an aerobed.

As this is basically an occupancy question, I have to close the thread and refer you to the DVC Occupancy Thread

Stated Occupancy is 4 adults plus a child under the age of 3 in studios and Once Bedroom units. AKV "officially" allow 5 in a one bedroom, as they have added a pull out chair in addition to the sleeper sofa.

Member Services has been allowing 5 of any age in one bedroom units at other resorts, but will ot supply bedding or linens.

Studio limits of 4 + 1 child under three are fairly regularly enforced by MS.

As your children age and become teens, you'll really, really appreciate the 2 bedroom units.

You may purchase points at any resort you wish, either through Disney or resale.
