DVC Question

Sorry, I am sure this has been answered before but i cannot find it.

Can I use my DVC points at any hotel on property like Port Orleans (where there are no DVC rooms) or am I restricted to the DVC properties?

You can use your points at the moderate and delux disney resorts.

It will cost you a $95 transaction fee and will be more points per day then
staying at a DVC resort but you can sure do it.

A experienced DVCer would rent their points and use the money during a discount offering to book other resorts.

I have never understood exactly why anyone would want to do this. DVC 1,2, and 3 bedroom units are so much nicer than any hotel room and cost considerabley less points. I can think of no reason I would use mega points to stay in a regular room at the GF or Poly, and CERTAINLY not at POR!

I agree with Diane. It costs so much less in points to stay in the larger and much nicer accomodations of DVC. I think that if someone would want to make it a habit to stay at one of the regular resorts, DVC isn't for them. In what you would pay in points, you would be better off to pay rack rate for those hotels.

The main reason I was asking was because I have friends staying there that we are going down with and was curious if this was something that has been done.

Do you have enough points that you could get 2 studios at OKW? Your friends could pay you the same (or less would really make them happy) as their reservation at Port Orleans.
