Well I've also just taken the plunge. Bought into OKW on the resale market. Have not closed yet but should go without a hitch. We love WDW, but also enjoy a lot of other things, such as snow skiing. I hope DVC has the kind of trading power I think it has, so we can do all the other stuff. I just have not seen trades mentioned on this board very much. Any experiences with trading would make me feel better about this deal. Thanks

Welcome Home.

Exchanges may not be the most cost effective use of points, but they certainly provide a nice option.

There have been many discussions about exchange opportunities. If you have any questions about specific opportunities, don't hesitate to ask. The exchanges to Keystone are a pretty good deal and even offer a lift ticket discount.

Enjoy!

Congratulations and welcome home!!

we've done one exchange to Hawaii. We've been enjoying DVC properties so much, haven't had a desire to exchange again..but thinking we will again next year. Do a search on this board for exchanges, and you'll find lots of info from satistified DVC members!

Enjoy your membership!!

We are fairly new members and we also like to snow ski. I am also wondering how easy it will be to someday exchange for a ski trip (although not for a few years :D )

We were at OKW earlier in the month and went to a member meeting. The guide asked if anyone had exchanged for skiing and nobody raised their hands. She said that she had done it to Colorado and had a GREAT time....but maybe guides have a bit of an advantage in making trades.

Any comments from other skiing members would be great.

I've also heard that DVC'ers don't tend to trade out very much. For every ONE person wanting to exchange OFF of Disney property there are THREE people just waiting to exchange in.

We know we've got a good thing being at the Happiest Place on Earth.....how can anything else compare?

Interested in hearing how easy it is to go the skiing route. This was a thing we thought about when we purchased and have our paper work but would like to hear how easy or hard the process can be.

I am sooooo looking forward to going home for the 1st time to WLV!!

Congrats and welcome home!! Taking the plunge was the best thing we ever did! ;)

One thing I've heard mentioned on these boards that might be a good idea for you is a direct trade with someone who owns. For example, you would trade 5 days for a week or 1 week for 2 weeks.

We are very happy you are joining our family. I hope too that the resale we just bought has the trading power we feel it does. Take care Tammy:bounce:

We've done two trades, one to Badgastein, Austria (this past spring break), and one to Kapalua (Maui). Had a great time at both. However, we were not successful doing it through Interval International, which provides a much larger selection. We went through Buena Vista Trading Company, and were limited in our selection. I'm concerned about the availability of weeks at prime resorts during school breaks for future trades.
