DVC Presidents Week?

Hey Guys: We are planning a trip for Feb. 2010 during Presidents week...We are going on a four day cruise (Sunday-Thursday)...We are planning to arrive the Friday night before Presidents day and then stay the Thursday and Friday night after the cruise...We are owners at AKL and SSR...

We want to stay at WL, BLT, or the THV for the first two nights (so 11 months will only work at THV) and we are sure we want AKL with a savanna view for the last two nights...We need a 2-bedroom...I am a bit worried at AK because I cannot call until the week is half over at the 11 month mark...I also do not know how hard it would be to get WL or BLT for the first two nights...

So my question is...what types of attendance does the villas have for presidents week? And am I going to have a tough time making my reservation? I should tell you that I am not interested in "walking" a reservation...

This will be our first Feb. trip any where...As a teacher with a school age child, we are now forced to go at busy times of the year..I am nervous about going at the busier times and want to prepare myself for what we may face.

I've not stayed in a DVC resort during that time, but I know a few years ago when I went the weekend before President's Day, it was also Daytona week (of the Daytona 500 fame). I stayed off property and it was very difficult to find a room on short notice (about 1-2 weeks before). MK was fairly busy; I had been to Epcot the weekend before and it was slow.

i am going this February and I called a week and a half passed the 7mth window and was able to get the entire week...

...I am a teacher as well with a school aged child so I am always traveling during busy times...u just have to work with what you get...

We went this yr for April vacation but we were on the cruise - which didn't seem so bad. I know now that my oldest is in High School there is no taking out of school - sorry I know how teachers feel about this kind of thing. I am also nervous about February - well the good news is that now that we have DVC we know will be back and not so stressed about the time we are there?

We went 2 years ago during President's week and stayed at OKW. Had no trouble getting my reservation for a 2 BDR at the 7 month mark.

We are going to AKV this year for President's week. Staying in a 2BDR. I made have my reservation at the 11 month and the other half at the 7 month mark. No troubles.

For Pres weekend in 08, I was able to get a 2 br at BCV at 6 months.

I have been watching it. I booked a few months ago and it is not going down in fact it went up.

We are making our second President's week trip this year, needledss to say we had a real good time the first time. We are staying at OKW in a 2 BDRM which I had no problem getting at the 7 month window. The crowds at that time were very manageable and that was with Mardi Gras and the Daytona 500 all in that same week. The weather can be a little funny so pack for everything from 60 degrees to 80.

Yes we fly out of Islip on the 15th and back home on the 22nd. We booked when the window for SWA and paid way too much. My sister lives in Rocky Point, on Brightview off of Caddy.

The last two years, President's Week airfare has been quite high on SWA. This year DH (a HS teacher) and I were going to drive but now we're booked on Direct Air from Worcester to Sanford. Here's hoping they keep flying.

I only tried to switch at 7 months once. I was switching from BCV to the first half (Fri-Mon) at VWL and the second half (Tues-Thurs) at BWV. I was able to get Fri-Sun calling day-by-day and waitlisted for Monday. That Monday took a long time to come in. If I'm remembering correctly at the one month mark. I waitlisted BWV all at once and got it after a couple months and ended up taking the Mon at BWV instead.

yeah airfare is high...from NY...so I decided to take the train instead...you might want to check the prices out...the seem pretty stable.
