I am going to talk to my DH about joining DVC once I get alot more information gathered. We love DCL and would probably use the majority of the points for DCL. How do I find out how many you need for a 3 and 7 night cruise, during summer and on off-peaks? Do they offer special deals ever for DVC? We are lucky that we live in Florida and have been fortunate to travel on Fl Resident Rates so don't know if DVC is the way for us to go.

Any and all help is appreciated!!

Have you asked this question over on the DVC boards? I have used points for DCL - but from a $ sense many people don't feel it is a good use of points. It is a very personal issue, so each of us decides if that is how we want to use our points. As a Fl resident, the $ difference between resident rates and using DVC points is huge! I can't imagine it would be a good use from any point of view.

Just my thoughts,

Karyn

If your main interest is in using your DVC points for DCL cruises it is not a good deal, financially. The number of points needed for a cruise can change from year to year (and has jumped quite a bit in the last couple of years) so the number of points you buy today won't go as far toward a DCL vacation in the future.

DVC makes great sense if you plan to use your points at the DVC resorts. We have used our points for two cruises and find that it was worth it for us, however we mainly use our points for DVC resort stays. IMO you will be barely breaking even if you use your points just for DCL cruises.

I also agree with what Michelemouse posted above, DVC has raised the pt cost to cruise the last 4 years...........what will it be 10 years from now.
We are using cash via DU for our 4 day cruise in Feb, this way we will save our points for a DVC resort.

If you go over to the DVC forum, there is a link to DVC points charts at the top, including DCL.
I agree that using DVC points for DCL is not the best use. However, having said that, I am seriously considering using my 2004 & 2005 points to do a 3 night cruise, with a 4 night DVC stay next year.
I won't be going anywhere in 2005, and I have to use the points, and my kids are a little Disney theme park worn-out, so I thought a cruise combined with a non-theme park stay would be a nice vacation.

Oops! My mistake. I just went over to the DVC forum and looked up the points charts and DCL is not there. Sorry for the misinformation!
