DVC points

I think you might mean points for rent if you aren't a DVC member. Some members rent their points on the Dis, and also some brokers help you secure a reservation by working with DVC members who want to rent their points.

great, thank you all for the advice, now i need to find someone to rent their points from

I highly suggest you read as much information on renting as you can, it's not like just reserving a room.

Yes. Here are a few differences:

There are typically no refunds given for cancellations.

Villas tend to book up pretty early (especially during Fall Frenzy from September to early January). Owners start booking at 11 months out. David's rental website has suggestions to ballpark reasonable booking expectations...

Studios typically have 1 queen bed plus 1 pullout sofabed instead of 2 queens.

Daily housekeeping is not included in points stays.

We were looking at renting for October but it got booked up too fast. We found a ta that is giving us almost the same rate or pretty close at beach club. We were looking at dvc rental store because they don’t make you pay the full amount up front.

I would recommend David's, for a first experience at renting points. Like others have stated, make sure you are familiar with the drawbacks of renting points such as no cancellation, normally payment at booking, no changes in reservation, etc.

And if it is for this year yet, be aware that studio availability from September through year-end is stink, stank, stunk.
