DVC points

I need some expert assistance when it comes to DVC points.

We have the opportunity to purchase 100 points with an April use year at BWV. Just one question. We will get 100 points from the 2008 allocation which [according to the contract] must be used by 4/1/10, the 100 points from 2009 are banked.

My question is --- is there any way to carry forward the 2008 points? We are planning to visit in September/October, 2009.

Any advice is much appreciated.

April 2008 points are valid for stays from 4/1/2008 - 3/31/2009. If they are included in the contract you are considering and still valid then they must have been banked into the April 2009 Use Year making them valid for stays from 4/1/2009 - 3/31/2010. Once banked, they cannot be banked again. They must be used for stays no later than 3/31/2010 and will expire on that date if not used.

If you are planning to go in Sep/Oct 2010, you will need April 2010 UY points for that stay and/or April 2009 points that have been banked into the April 2010 UY and/or April 2011 points that you borrow into the April 2010 UY.

If the points from the April 2008 use Year were banked, they can be used through March 31, 2010. If they were not banked (and included in the contract) they have either already expired or have been used. At this time, no contracts - purchased thru Disney or resale - will have any 2008 points remaining since they have all expired unless banked into the 2009 Use Year.

Regardless, banked 2008 points could not be used beyond March 31, 2010. I'm guessing your intended stay is actually September/October, 2010?

I had someone suggest that I might rent them out. But I've never even considered that option much less know how to do it.
