There are 5 resorts listed on the DVC member webiste in Key West. Any thoughts on which resort to avoid, or which is the nicest? Plus, what are my chances to trade into that resort for October 2009?

Key West is like an entirely different dimension where everything runs at 1/4 speed. I don't think you'll regret staying at any of those resorts.

I have not been to any of the II resorts in Key West but I will offer my thoughts...

In addition to DVC I also own a Starwood Vacation Ownership and have traded several times through II. I have found that "Premier" resorts (as ranked by II) and "name brand chain" resorts (Marriott, Starwood, Hyatt, Hilton, etc.) are safe bets for a trade - you want to make sure that you are getting a nice place when giving up DVC!!

I see that the 3 Hyatt resorts in Key West are all "Premier" and would probably be a safe bet.

We have put in for a trade for January 2009, haven't heard anything yet. We have stayed in a studio at Coconut Beach Resort over Christmas for 3 years. This was about 4 years ago and the studio was kind of sparse. The pool deck was very nice. Key West is a unique place. Good luck.:cool1:

We stayed at the Banyan in Nov. of 2002 for a week. We got a really good feel for Key West, and from what we could see, all of the resorts offered were top notch! Key West is a lot of fun, very laid back and honky-tonk. We were treated very well at the Banyan, and have loved Key West ever since!
