DVC Points and Villa Availability??

Hi there, so I'm VERY new to the idea of renting points for DVC Villas.
I saw that you can get a really nice deal on some 1 bedroom villas by doing this.

However, like most on this board. I'm waiting to see what "deals" pop up for this December before I pay-off/Book anything. Hoping in August the new specials will be released. If nothing comes up, then I'm just going for it.

My question is. How often are the DVC villas available with that amount of notice? I read that some book a year out!

Is it possible that if I rented some pts that there would be a 1 bd villa for the first week in December for 6 nts? Or am I dreaming? :rotfl2:

Of course I'm selective of where I want to go, but some what flexible.
Really like the AKV, BWV and maybe BCV (kinda pricey still) and MAYBE Saratoga Springs, although I don't know much about that property and not crazy about location.
Any of the MK locations are still too much for my taste.

But is this isn't realistic to get, then I don't want to bother investing too much time looking at this option.
I also won't book until August since it looks like you have to pay up front in full and there is no refund. Don't want to risk missing out on a deal.

Any advice or even reviews on doing this would be great. :goodvibes

I doubt you will find anything available for 6 nights in Dec renting points from a DVC member as it is the busiest period for DVC owners with most booking the full 11 months in advance.

You would need to head over to the Dvc boards to see who has points to rent..December is a REALLY POPULAR month for DVC owners to go to Disney. Most owners have booked 11 months out and most renters have already secured their points with owners for this year..Places like Bwv,BLT or BCV are very very very popular and unlikely. You might have luck at SSR or Okw

DVC members booked last January. I doubt if there is anything left and probably a long wait list.

December is very likely already booked solid at the DVC resorts. Timeshares in general tend to book up early, and DVC owners generally make their reservations 7-11 months out.

December is THE most popular time for DVC members to visit WDW. It's a combination of nice weather, low point costs and reasonable crowd levels for most of the month, and all of the Christmas stuff is in full swing. Members who want to visit in December usually need to call right at the beginning of their 11-month booking window, which means most of the inventory the week you'd be traveling was gone by the end of January, with long wait lists already established in case of any cancellations.

So yes, it's true, if you want to rent from a DVC member for travel in December, you really need to start looking for someone about a year in advance.

well sometimes DVC member make a reservation then can't go - because of this - disboards allows confirmed reservation only a month in advance.

so you can look in Nov and see?:woohoo:

You can still try. Your only choices will most likely be OKW and SSR. I have stayed in both multiple times and enjoyed them very much.

It never hurts to try, but I can tell you we own DVC and last month when I tried to make a reservation on points in December, all that was left was SSR. Good luck!

There is another site that allows members to post confirmed reservations that are available, but I don't know if posting the URL is allowed here. I happened to find availability for my dates at a resort I didn't think I would have a chance of getting on such short notice.

We just completed a point rental for our Dec trip and we only had a choice of an SSR or OKW studio. Not sure what the availability was for 1beds, as we only looked at studios. Also not sure about "shorter" trips, or splitting it up as I booked a full week. That said, we got an awesome deal [$9/point] so the same room that would be nearly $2600 on "cash" through CRO was just over $950 for the week! Good luck!
