DVC point rental and Dining Plan

I am renting points from a DVC member for our upcoming vacation and I was chatting with a cast member online and he told me I CANNOT add dining to the reservation once it is in my name, and that I need to add it when my seller is booking it. True or False???

The member that you rent from is the only one that can add a dining plan to the reservation. It can be done any time up to 2 days prior to the check-in date and must be paid for in full at the time it's added.

That member has complete control over the reservation until you check-in at the resort.

The owner retains ownership of the reservation. You should not be allowed to modify it or add the DDP or DME but in error CM's sometimes let you make a change. That can really mess up the owners DVC account.

Interesting. Do the specials ever apply to DVC members like free dining or do you guys always have to pay rack rate?

Free dining is not really free. You have to purchase a package (room & tickets) at full rack rate in order to get free dining. These packages are not available using points.
