I am considering a DVC purchase, however I discovered that the points have increased for DVC destinations other than home resorts (i.e. cruises) from last year by about 5 points per person. Does this happen every year? I thought the concept of point purchase was that points were to be fixed.
Points for DVC RESORTS are fixed in a way that they can shuffle them around but can never increase the total. Outside of the DVC Resorts point costs change to reflect the increases that are made in the regular prices of the hotel or cruise.
You also have to remember that although DVC is part of Disney, it's sort of a company within a company. Same with Disney Cruise Lines.
It seems the cruise line trips are always increasing the points on an annual basis. But the total number of points for DVC resorts is fixed like the previous poster stated.
The entire system could go away tomorrow for the non DVC points options. Do not buy with this as a main priority. Buy DVC points for DVC resorts and anything else you decide to use them for is gravy.
