these are busy DVC times
Dec 1-14
Thanksgiving week (still a bargin point wise)
the food & wine festavial but only for BWV and BCV
the highest point cost
Palm and Easter Sunday weeks, Christmas to NY
summer use to be pretty easy - but lately it is definitely getting harder to go on a last minute (2 months or less) trip during the summer. (okay who am I kidding how about 20 days before)
I just figured DVC to be really busy during Adventure & Choice season, which are pretty much the times Spiceycat gave. Less points per night=busy at the DVC's.
Booking Thanksgiving trip has been the only time I have ever been on hold waiting. Booked Easter day by day and got through every morning.
Hey Bobbiwoz what dates in December are you waitlisted for VWL? I was going to try to change our SSR ressies to VWL for 12-19 thru 12-26, studio, at the 7 month window. I'm sure I will be waitlisted.
So summer months at 7 months shouldn't be a problem for any resort? VB or HH included?
Hi, it's just the one night that I'm waitlisted, December 8th. I have the rest of the trip at VWL, but I didn't have the points for the Saturday night when I booked, 11 months out. Do you have the points to waitlist day by day to hold both VWL and SSR ressies? I honestly think your dates would be very very difficult to get at VWL in a studio.
VB will probably be OK at 7 months out during the summer if you don't want a Beach Cottage, but HH will not be easy to get at 7 months for the summer, it's a smaller resort and booking the summer is why many owners bought it.

I don't think you can use that as a true rule-of-thumb. September is Adventure season and is hands-down the easiest time of year to book.
Until 2-3 years ago all of January was pretty easy to book. Now the popularity of the marathon has increased demand that week, and MLK week is also fairly busy. The other weeks January is still very slow.
To spicey's list I would add most Holiday weeks (MLK week, President's Day week, etc.) I also think you could expand the year-end busy list to the entire period from Thanksgiving thru New Year's Day.
