It's been a couple of years since we have done a
DCL cruise (we have done 3 DCL cruises - 3,4,and 7-day), but it was only offered on the 7 day cruise when we went. I don't know if they have changed things. The get together was very informal, and they gave everyone a free
DVC hat, lanyard, and luggage tags. They also had a trivia game, and people could win other DVC items. It was scheduled early in the day, and I think they had a continental breakfast table set up.
The get together was scheduled during our character breakfast, which we passed on to go to the DVC gathering. No big deal since we were traveling with 2 teen boys who weren't overly concerned about missing a character breakfast! If we were traveling with younger children however, the character breakfast would have been the better choice.
Honestly, the DVC gathering wasn't a big deal. It was fun to get the freebies, but the real purpose of it seemed to be an opportunity for members to add-on points. If there's nothing else scheduled during the gathering and you want to check it out, I would go. However, if you are deciding between the DVC gathering and something else, I would consider going to the other activity.
