Hey all! We are just 4 as away from our first cruise- ever! I am so excited.

Just a quick question- we are DVC and have gotten 2 calls to visit the DVC desk on the ship. Does anyone know what this entails? I’m really not interested in a sales pitch because we are not in a position to buy more points at the moment.

I just don’t want to miss valuable time on the cruise if that is the goal of stopping by the desk.

Thanks in advance!

It's awesome! Sometimes they have daily gifts for DVC members. I don't think they've started back up again but they used to have member gatherings (with a soft sales pitch, but raffle prizes like $200 OBC, pins, etc and free alcoholic drinks/water bottles.). You should get a DVC magnet on your stateroom door as well. Past gifts that we got on our 2016 and 2018 cruises were DVC hats, lanyards (great for our first ever DCL trip!), a print of the Walt/Lillian pic that was in the rooms, and a glow bracelet.

The desk stop only takes 5 minutes max, so it won't really take time out of your day

This. Just stop by the desk and say you're a DVC member. You may get invited to look at the information they're showing, but I usually just received the "gift of the day" and moved along.

The Member Gatherings are where the sales pitches occur. You can win prizes, but if you're not interested in buying more points, those may not be a good use of your time.

The member gatherings are a sales pitch, but there's often a lot of giveaways, some info about new/upcoming resorts, a photo op with a Captain Mickey/Minnie, free drinks and snacks, and usually a drawing at the end for some OBC. They're usually around an hour, are not at all high-pressure, and can be a fun way to get some swag while having a drink on the Mouse. I honestly enjoy the DVC member gatherings more than the Platinum gatherings personally.

I highly recommend stopping by the DVC desk to make sure they have you down (it's usually adjacent to the Atrium, on deck 4). We haven't sailed DCL since 2017, but in the past the DVC desk had daily gifts to pick up - often magnets, pins, light-up things, lanyards, hats, etc. They used to have in-room gifts for DVC members sometimes as well (though not sure if they're still doing that at all).

The staff at the desk are not guides - they're like the DVC reps in the parks. I think they have the best jobs on the ship - they get to help make people smile without having to try to sell them something!

We're resale DVC members sailing in July (not on points.) Does anyone know if we qualify for the DVC onboard gifts?

I believe so, I seem to remember others saying they qualified. You just don't get the discount in the shops as you need to show the blue card there...or I guess the magic mobile version of it now.

Just a slight update. The dvc desk on the Fantasy/Dream is now on deck 3 across from guest service. Because they were not doing the gathering, there was indeed a guide that sells memberships at the desk, along with a regular dvc cast member. When we were on the fantasy last month, they actually looked at my account after I tapped my card. They knew where I owned and when I purchased my Contracts. I did experience a slight push to add on several evenings. I've Cruised a lot but the slight push to add on was new And unexpected. I got lots of goodies every night. We leave again a week. Probably have the same cast members.

Be aware that stopping by the desk can lead to buying more points. We did. 😊

Actually, my wife hated the hassle of banking and borrowing points for when we want 2 studios. Now we have enough, I think.
