My family and I are trying to plan a 4 night trip (Sunday-Thursday) to WDW for Epcot's Flower and Garden Show. Ideally, we would love to have a 2 BR concierge room at AKV, but we missed our opportunity today. I called member services and there was a 2 BR concierge room available for only 3 nights and I said no thanks, then talked it over with my family, and we decided 3 nights would be fine. I called MS back within 30 minutes and the room was gone! Lesson learned. :sad1: Since our travel plans are flexible, I decided to waitlist us for AKV 2 BR concierge ranging from March 30th through May 25th. Here is my question: I plan to call MS tomorrow to book us in a 2 BR at OKW. If I do that, will I still be able to stay on the 2 BR concierge waitlist at AKV? Since we're very new at this, I'm afraid of getting myself into trouble with keeping track of waitlists and bookings. (We also booked our Christmas trip in a 2 BR AKV savanna view but are waitlisted for 2 BR concierge). Does anyone have suggestions for how best to deal with this situation? If we are able to get OKW then suddenly AKV comes through a week before the OKW trip, will that cause problems? Thanks for your input. :)

If a waitlist that uses fewer points than the booking that you have comes through 30 days or less before the stay, those extra points become holding points, and can only be used to book a ressie 60 days out.

I imagine that AKV concierge will use more than OKW, so you should be OK. Remember at 30 days out to say that you want to stay on the waitlist if you do.

Regarding your Flower Show wants. I do not know if MS can do such a flexible waitlist for you. Please let us know what they say.

Thanks for your comments. :) Regarding the flexible waitlist in the spring, I was able to sign up for it yesterday. The idea of being on a waitlist that spans about 8 weeks seems a bit odd to me too, but MS said it would be no problem.

Am I correct in assuming the best way to see if our waitlist reservation came through is by checking the dvcmember website? I would hate to call MS every day, especially when getting the busy signal is pretty common.

Yes the website is the easiest way to see if your waitlist has come through. You will see it in two places on the website. The waitlisted dates will appear on your Vacation Details page once they come through. You can also see the cancellation of the backup reservation and the booking of the wait listed date(s) on the Points Activity page.
