Hi to all you DVC veterans,
I am in the process of buying resale BWV and was wondering about when I can book a room. I will be sending full payment next week and it will go into escrow than another 4-6 weeks until closing is final. Now my question is my DH, BIL & wife and I are going to WDW in January, we already reserved a room at the Summerfield Suites and have airline tickets and park tickets, but I would really rather stay on site at BWV do you think it would be at all possible to get a 2-Bdr suite at such short notice? I know about the 11/7 month booking and realize that it is only 2 1/2 months away until we go so probably not a good chance? Do you think I would be able to get any other onsite resort with our points instead? Any info about this would be greatly appreciated:D

You can make reservations once Disney has the paperwork. It's been generally reported that that's about a week or so after closing. So you're looking at 1-1/2 to 2 months from now.

That'll put you into mid-December to early January before you could even make your reservation.

Remember that at 60 days any un-reserved DVC inventory is made available to CRO for general cash reservations.

You don't say when you're going in January. Early January, just after New Year's is always fully booked. Mid to late January can be better, but Disney has a lot of activities going on at that time that can also drive up demand.

On top of all that, BWV's is probably the most sought after resort.
I hate to dampen anything, but off hand I'd say that the chances of getting into BWV with just a few weeks notice (at most) would be extremely nil.

Sometimes magic does happen, but don't count on it. With the DVC DCL cruise coming up, a lot of members may have used points for that so that might leave some extra DVC inventory available this year that perhaps won't get used by CRO. Most likely however any available inventory would be at OKW, not at BWV or BCV, or even VWL.

Don't cancel your other reservations. As soon as you can, call and see if you can get anything at all. Good luck.

If you open up your options to the 3 other DVC resorts at WDW you'll have a much better chance.

You might also consider whether you're willing to switch resorts during your stay - spend some time at BWV and some time at OKW (for example).

It certainly doesn't hurt to try - and don't forget the waitlist; it might just work out for you.

Bobbidiboo, Sounds like time is a priority for you- you can fed ex the payment and talk to the resale agent about an expedited closing. We were able to close 2 weeks after our payment. It all depends on the seller being cooperative and returning their paperwork promptly as well. Deeds can be hand delivered to the courthouse, etc. I would press the agent/seller a little more as you do want to be able to attempt to use those points in Jan. You could call MS and ask about availability, then you will know if its worth pushing the closing up

I don't know when in January you are going (that could make a difference). But, we had DVC friends that joined us on a trip a few weeks ago on one day's notice. So, you never know! Our friends were offered either four nights in a studio at BCV or WLV on one days notice. You might get lucky. I don't know how hard two bedrooms are to get at the Boardwalk.

Once you are in the system, even if it is full when you call...get on the waitlist. You'll see posts where it worked for people and you never know until you try.

Welcome Home, btw!

Kind regards,
Shontell
