I just wanted to get a feel for the food everyone prepares while at their DVC resort? We are trying to plan, but can only get to breakfast cereal (for breakfast), and bread, cold meat for lunch.

Has anyone made anything a little more involved?

BTW, we will be using garden grocer.

Thanks in advance.

We do a lot, but we are able to drive to WDW so we pack goods from home. We also make a trip to a local grocery at some point for fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, maybe some frozen pizzas and a rotisserie chicken. Tuna salad, cappelini pomodoro, toasted cheese, PBJ... almost anything quick and with little prep work fits into our trips. Crock pot meals are also popular with DVCers.

We only make oatmeal or cereal. Sometimes we buy bread and butter at the resort store and toast it. I know there is a stove/oven, but we have never used it. We just want to have breakfast in the room.

We usually just eat breakfast in the room. We do have various breakfast items but don't like to have too much clean-up so we try to keep it simple; cereal, bagels, fruit, etc. We haven't actually "made" lunch or dinner but we are open to it..we usually bring mac & cheese and easy things like that. It just seems that we want to get back out there and have some fun! We are unable to sit in the room for too long cuz there is always something to go see or do. I have heard of other DVCr's making huge meals or large pots of chili, etc. The kitchen is well stocked so you should have access to anything you might need. (Personally, I just don't want to be stuck in the kitchen on vacation...I get enough of that at home!) :)

Our best late night or quick afternoon is a Baked Potato . We get the ones that a precleanded and wrapped as you just stick them in why you get ready and they are done.

DW adds some shreded cheese and butter ,DD and myself are just Butter.

We always keep a pack of Hotdogs on hand as well.

We usually do pancakes and bacon or oatmeal for breakfast on a day we might have a later priority seating dinner reservation. We have made plenty of complete meals in DVC villas, just like we would at home. We often buy a ham and prepare a big ham dinner one night with plenty of mashed potatos and cooked veggies. Then we know we will have leftovers for another day, and the ham makes great sandwiches for lunches and snacks. We've even made split pea soup with the ham bone in the villa. Our favorite quick meals are usually steak or chops on the grill by the pool and salads etc.

We've made Stouffer's frozen lazagna, bagged salad, and bread, tuna salad (during Lent), frozen pizza, tacos, sloppy joes, Kraft mac and cheese, besides regular breakfast stuff and sandwiches. Always buy those Pillsbury ready to bake cookies and do a batch of them (with ice cream).

:thumbsup2

Crock pot meals is a great idea. Put it in before going out and let it cook all day so its ready when you come in. Can't remember; do they have a crock pot as standard kitchen equipment in the villas? Does anybody know where you can find an inventory list of what is supposed to be in the villas when you arrive? This would be a good way to help plan for the meals you will want to do in your "home" and determine what you might need to bring yourself.

We cook like we normally do at home.

Breakfast--eggs, bacon/ham/sausage, hash browns, toast, coffee.

Dinner--Chicken, fish, steak, vegetables, potatoes/rice, wine.

We use the grills by the quiet pools, too, weather permitting.

We make a full breakfast - eggs, sausage, fruit, bagels. If it's just me and DH we also keep a bottle of wine, cheese, yogurt, crackers or french bread and salad makings.

If the family is along I buy deli meats, cheese, and buns and make substantial sandwiches - wrap them tightly and leave in the fridge to grab when the boys are hungry (which is frequently). Also keep ice cream, popcorn, chips, fruit and frozen pizza. We often have pizza and salad for supper or the leftovers of a TS meal - we usually do one or two during a trip.

If you want a crockpot, you'll have to bring your own or buy one when you get there and keep it in your Owner's locker.

We bring along some snack foods that are quick and easy to have when we get their. Usually popcorn, crystal lights and some snack bars. Each day we leave the breakfast upto the group. If we plan on long day we make eggs, toast and maybe cereal and some fruits. We do shop the store at OKW if we do not have a vehicle. We will have on-pirate: hand meats, cheese and soups for lunches or late dinner is back from a long day at parks. When we have a vehicle we do better shopping for foods and pick up pizzas, chicken, pasta, vege's,breads, salad, snacks and fruit to make more meals that we can plan out. We find the kitchen and big convenience for us and our group. Its fun to plan out some meals and you do get tired of park food and sometimes just want some soup or regular meals. Its nice to leave planning up to each person also. We are their for 11 days and the schedule will very for everyone.:smickey: http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/pirate.gif

we do steaks, chicken, hamburgers on the grill. Order extra hamburger and make tacos (order a taco/gordita kit, etc.) or spaghetti sauce. Spaghetti is easy b/c you can make ahead, then all you have to do is boil noodles and open a bag of salad greens. Sometimes, we also cook the chicken after the steaks and eat it cold another night, make chicken sandwiches, chicken on top of salads, etc. This is good when you are tired and want to eat right away and kids want to run out to pool--sometimes we take the cold chicken sandwiches and eat poolside wiht a bag of carrot and chips.

We generally do breakfast, especially now since no one in my family worries about getting to the parks at rope drop. Pancakes, eggs & bacon are standard fare for the kids. Dh & I generally do pasteries and coffee.
Since we go in the summer we will do burgers and hoagies for lunch. I've yet to cook dinner though.

Our next trip in 2 weeks we have planned some meals already. We are Vegan and drive to WDW so we bring a cooler and hit a produce market in Daytona just before we turn onto I-4. We make salads, roast vegetables and bring pre-made chili in a boil-in-bag. Granola and almond milk for breakfast is quick and easy. Lots of fruit to eat for snacks. We also bring a pizza pan to make our own when we feel the desire. frozen whole grain pizza dough is from our local Hanafords market.:stir:

As many have posted we mainly cook for breakfast. Cereal, frozen waffles, yogurt, pancakes (mix w/water) frozen sausage, toast, etc.

Snacks for the kids. I order a box of sandwich bags to bring cookies, cereal, etc to the parks or out for the day snacks. I also use them for wet items and small items that we do not want to lose like pins etc. I also order a box of small kitchen garbage bags because we always seem to need them for trash and for laundry, etc.

BTW, Big Thumbs up for Garden Grocer. I order toiletries, groceries, fresh fruit, water bottles, juice boxes, plus all the above and more which just cuts down on my packing which my DH loves!
