We just became new members and I read in the paperwork that we don't have mousekeeping but for every four days. Why is this? Why do the other resorts do it every day but DVC doesn't? You'd think that it would be one of the better "perks" for spending so much money on a vacation.

DVC is a timeshare, which means all operating costs are paid by the members through dues. If housekeeping was everyday, dues would have to be much higher to pay for it. Members have the option of paying for daily housekeeping. This way dues are kept lower and only those who want daily service pay for it. I personally prefer it the way it is, I don't need someone coming in everyday.

The DVC schedule keeps your dues cost down.

Our family likes the cleaning schedule. Not being bothered every day by Mousekeeping is OK with us. The room really doesn't get dirty during our stays and if we need additional supplies, all we have to do is ask.

When we first bought into DVC that is what really concerned me. Now I am so
happy that we don't have housekeeping every day. When we stay in a hotel for more than one day I don't like housekeeping coming in. Most of the time I have them only take dirty towels and give us fresh ones.

Actually, you only get housekeeping once a week - on the fourth day complete housekeeping - on the seventh - trash and towel service. This schedule continues throughout your stayl

Not quite. If you stay seven nights or fewer, you get your towels replaced and your trash removed (plus your soap, shampoo, etc resupplied) on day 4 if you consider day 1 the day you check in. If you stay eight nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day eight. Then the cycle repeats for longer stays.

I have come to really like not having mousekeeping come in every day. I don't have to worry about picking up & putting away & locking stuff up as much. It's actually less hassle. And if I do find something we need I just call and they bring it.:thumbsup2 Our villa gets that lived in look & it feels more like home! :rotfl:

When we stayed a few weeks ago, our schedule got messed up when we had to change rooms - when I called housekeeping, she said guests could call and change any dates they wished as long as we asked, something about a new system they have. So if you needed housekeeping a day sooner, just call and ask, or if you don't want to be bothered until another day, just call and change it. We loved not being bothered every morning, and I don't mind throwing a few towels in the laundry if we needed some clean ones. Enjoy your trip!
