I think Coronado and CBR are the largest moderates with riverside being close behind. French quarter is rather small. Also what is moderate room occupancy? I can't see them tearing down rooms if they sell, but if its the flip side then its free game

For me I see some appeal. But the over water bungalows are a breaking point for 95% of owners. DVC price has gone way up anyways so I can't see that whole thing selling wellI'm interested to see how well the WL DVC sells. That's in the MK area but on the monorail. It also doesn't have good fireworks views. Their on the water cabins will only be looking at water and not have a castle view like the poly. If the poly bungalows didn't sell well I don't know that the WL cabins will either.
I just don't see where they can put a canal in to get to Epcot. I mean they can do it, but they will have to go under Buena Vista Dr. at the least if not Victory Way too. Even if they try to use the lake in the middle of the resort, there are foot paths that go out to that Island that will have to be raised (hard to tell the height of them on google earth) I can't imagine all this alteration will be worth it to the bean counters

Caribbean Beach butts up right against the backside of World Showcase. They could put the canal in that way or go across the road and connect it to the lagoon by BC/YC and Boardwalk.People don't understand the geography...
Caribbean and the pop complex are as close to studios...actually closer than Epcot. Plus the lake services Both.
And...the entrance to studios is being moved to directly across from AoA and pop...that is backside of Caribbean.
MGM is the soft spot if they want to link that area to a park

The old entrance won't be going away that's becoming bus only. The WRONG side of world showcase...roughly where the illuminations powder house is...
There's a different between the distance and "planning/design" difference...
The reality is if you dredge under victory way and though the neck of the "old" entrance to studios parking off Buena vista - which is permitted
To go away (maybe) - it is possibly less of an undertaking to accomplish more.

According to reports that's not where the DVC will go. See that brownish patch to the bottom right of where you put the DVC? That's where the rumored DVC buildings will go.I think you guys are missing the boat with the whole canal to EPCOT notion (no pun intended). EPCOT continues to be the most neglected park by a landslide. The big bets are currently on HS and AK, with a primary goal of taking crowds away from MK. IF (big IF) this notion ever comes to fruition, my money is on a standalone tower in the wooded area between CBR and HS with a walkway to Studios. Construction timing would coincide nicely with the grand opening of Star Wars sometime in 2031 - 2036 (humor, but seriously)...
All kidding aside, this makes more logistical sense than creating a canal to EPCOT (sure is much more budget friendly, too). We all know that Disney loves the standalone tower DVC option (much cheaper than a sprawling setup). And they would get the nice marketing spin of the brand new SW land that is within walking distance of the brand new DVC...
Don't misunderstand me... I don't think this would ever come to fruition, as I just don't see how moderate DVC works. But if the idiots running the show decide that they want to dip their toes into the alligator infested Moderate DVC waters, then I suppose CBR makes as much sense (or more) than any of the other moderate resorts...
Edited to add pic of the area I am talking about:

It's been speculated the parking decks might now happen right now because they haven't started yet or filed any permits for them. They might just expand the parking lot instead. You mean that brown patch directly across from Trinidad south and north of the little mermaid rooms at AoA?
...uh huh...now look at the picture again and reevaluate my MGM plan...
And think about what the parking lot will look like when they take out the mass of concrete and install parking decks...

I think its just a breaking point. I don't know the exact numbers but my parents got a hell of a deal back in 96-97. Now? You're getting a lot more up charge for yes, better locations. But probably pricing out the base you were originally targeting. The fact that the poly didn't sell out quickly is very damning...
Few things draw as much longtime Disney nostalgia and loyalty like the poly and contemporary.
If that has a hard time moving...there is a real problem behind the scenes/books

It'll be interesting to see how that process evolves and what kind of feedback they get for the WL units
