DVC messed up

Also, they really need a way to let you know what you are listed for, because when they make a mistake or you, there is no way to review the list without calling MS and asking that question specifically. Most of the time they will tell me I am on the list and it has not come thru, but rarely do they review the list with me. I would like to see a section on the website that says MY WAITLISTS.

EXCELLENT suggestion!

I think that would be extremely helpful for us. We see our reservations there. Seeing the waitlist in front of us could help us correct any errors that may have been made before the automatic change is employed.

I second your idea! :thumbsup2

I am a renter working with a DVC owner on renting and apparently she has trouble with MS. Her home resort is AKV and she made a reservation today for me for June 2008. She emailed me and called me and said we had it and that she would email me the confirmation # as soon as MS called her back. She explained that MS was having computer problems.

Later she emailed me that she had some bad news... the lady called her back and said that the computer was only allowing a 7 month booking window, which means only vacations until March at this point. After that, MS said that they would call her back, but they did not.

We were all sooooo excited

What a let down!

Has anyone else had this happen?

angiepangie8 - that doesn't seem right, there are people that have booked after March 2008 if they are owners. Is she trying to use non AKLV points? If so then yes she can only book 7 months in advance.

I'm not sure. She told me that AKV was her home resort and therefore she could book 11 months out there and 7 months out at other locations. A couple of days before I made my final decision she called the resort to make sure the room I wanted was available for the dates I needed. She then let me know that they did have rooms available. My DH and I decided let's go for it and told her to book it. She even thought she did book it with our request for location ~Zebra Trail and everything. (I am kind of wondering if maybe she made a mistake but I'm really hoping that it's MS)

Boy am I bumbed. I just turned down a different AKV owner's points to work with this current owner and I would really hate to think it was her mistake.

These could be the developers points that she's using. If so, then they can't be used until 7 months from the reservation.

I was just about to add the same thing.

I'd bet the owner is renting out their developers points to offset some of the buy in cost of AKV. That's been pretty typical, especially since the "double dev points" promotion began.

I think "My Wait List" would be a great option on dvdcmember. Just so that we could see what we are waitlisted for. I would not expect to be able to know where I am on the list, just to confirm that I am on the list and that it is correct.

ARe we going through "Growing Pains"? It seems that
DVC is growing so fast, but cimputers and cm's and members cannot keep up w/changes etc.

I have had to call my guide in the past. He has helped me tremendously undo some things. I liken it more to a sales rep of a company. When I worked in Cust. Svce. many years ago I could not approve certain shipments. Customers would talk to their sales reps who would speak to my boss and voila we sent the shipment! So yes the guides can be of help.

Am I the only one who thinks that, just maybe, MS didn't screw up in this case. They didn't do what the OP thinks was desired, but I have a distinct feeling that, rather than screwing up, the directions to MS were actually followed (perhaps) but not the way the OP wanted. I suspect that the OP was very clear about not wanting to switch units, and, therefore, when the opportunity came up to put them in a single sized unit at the 30 day mark rather than having to switch units, the request was interpreted as waiting till the 30 day mark and then making sure that they didn't have to switch units. Not what the OP intended, not what anyone would hope to happen, but I suspect they thought they were doing the OP a favor. I, too, would be upset, but I think this is a plausible explanation. In this case, I think sending an email to go on the waitlist might be a better strategy since the request is a little more complex.

I was thinking the same thing, Doc. The more complex the request is, the greater the chance of something going astray. With the new waitlist policy, I think fewer and fewer people will be waitlisting day by day and going for the full period only.

Fortunately the other AKV owner I was communicating with said she could still help but said she will have to bank points to be able to do this for me since all of her 2008 points are gone. Do you think she will run into the same problem with "banked points"? Can banked points be used 11mos out?
Also I still want to give the last owner time to rectify the situation if it is MS's fault. Any Advice?
