This is our first year we are going in Dec (6-13, akl 2 bedroom). me and Dh are taking my mom, my sister, her husband and their three kids.

Can they come with us to this event or is it members only

and is it worth it???

Thanks in advance!!! We are soo excited about our first December trip!! Can't wait to see all the decorations!!!!!

The event is open to members and their guests. Here's the information for the 2007 event from the DVC member site:
Celebrate the season by mixing and mingling with your Disney Vacation Club neighbors during this complimentary Member event that will be held every Thursday in December from
3:00 to 5:00 pm, December 6, 13, 20,
and 27, 2007.

Located just outside of the International Gateway entrance to Epcot® we're decking the halls and sharing cups of holiday cheer during our holiday Member get-together. This event will be held rain or shine, so bring your family by any time between 3:00 and 5:00 pm for festive holiday entertainment and complimentary refreshments. This exclusive get-together is our gift to you this holiday season — one of the many perks of Membership.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Sounds great,

Does anyone know how early this event dates are announced or what day of the week it will be on this year?? (so we can work our Epcot dinner around it)

Thanks
KiM

It's been mostly Thursdays, but I think there was a Wednesday one year. I'd bet on Thursdays seeing no real reason for them to change it.

I don't think we officially heard the dates until November...I'm not kidding...It was driving me crazy. But it was all the Thursdays in December last year.

We went for the first time last year. It was okay, but after 45 minutes (and 35 of that was spent waiting for character photos or to buy pins) I was ready to leave.

They have a line to buy exclusive DVC pins, you get a free gift (it was an ornament), there were beautifully decorated cookies that tasted terrible and some hot apple cider punch. There were a few opportunities for character photos.

I think kids would enjoy it. There were some craft tables were they had activities for kids, plus there was music and dancing. It was very crowded. I didn't feel like starting conversations with strangers, so we didn't stay too long. There were some drawings too, but we didn't win anything.

We go every year and I like it. I met some of the official Disney Ambassadors back in 2006. They were very nice and it was fun talking to them. That was the same year I got my picture taken with one of Santa's dancing reindeer from the parade.

My DD loved the dancing and I actually liked the cookies. The character interaction on the dance floor was very good and my DD was able to conga with Minnie.

We have been to the Merry Mixer for the past two years and really enjoyed it! I am kinda sad that we will not be going to Disney this year in December so we will miss the mixer :sad2: .

You'll survive...just barely...like we did since we missed our Christmas WDW vacation last year. We all felt out of place since we were in our regular home instead of being "home" for the holidays.

We also like the Merry Member Mixer. It gave our son a lot of space to run out his energy. Although, one time Goofy appeared out of nowhere and he freaked...

I'm sooooo excited about going right before Christmas!
Can't wait to see the decorations! We got a 2 bedroom and are taking some family ( LOVE DVC:cool1:)

I just wish they announced what day this was on earlier so we could make it the day of our epcot dinner reservation...

We went this past Dec. and had a lot of fun. :goodvibes My children loved the dancing, meeting the characters and taking pictures with the characters. It felt like we were at an exclusive disney party. We would love to go again. ;) :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Those cookies are good!

In the past, the Merry Mixer was held on Thursday in the month of December. This year Christmas falls on a Thursday, so that week the date may move.

Here is some pics from this past year.
