DVC Members, who is from PA?

While I currently live in Orlando, I have been considering moving back to PA. There are so many of you from the Philly area, I had to post.

Formerly from Philadelphia (Chestnut Hill), but also lived in Jenkintown, Glenside (several years after I graduated from McDevitt!) and Phoenixville. My dad lives in Chester Springs and is also looking into DVC.

Folks are originally from Wikes-Barre area (I was born in Kingston) and we still have family there. I was recently talking to some people about old small amusement parks, such as Angela Park and Harvey's Lake. DonnaL, what was the name of that one up near your way in Moosic? I have photos from one of our visits, but can't remember the name.

Doombuggy, that park was Rocky Glen Amusement Park. I live in Dunmore and am old enough to remember.

Doombuggy,
I used to live in Chestnut Hill and Glenside as well ! I had friends back in my HS days that went to McDevitt :)

Grew up in Scranton... CHS '86. Living wherever the Navy sends us this year :goodvibes Home away from home is BWV (which I bought in a huge fit of sentimentality over my family trips to Seaside Heights/Seaside Park, NJ as a kid).

I can't believe someone brought up Rocky Glen on the DisBoards! I just had a flashback to the wild west "shootout" they used to do down by the lake...

SSR owners living in Philly.

Gosh, I'm homesick. Grew up in Newtown Square, lived in West Chester before moving to No. Virginia. But the rest of my family is all still in Delaware and Chester counties.

Hey Blue&Gold,

I used to work summers at Rocky Glen when I was high school.......made many, many hoagies at the "Hoagie Hut" while watching those "shootouts" and way too much cotton candy stuck all over me!!!! A long time ago......if you graduated from Central in 86 you remember watching those shootouts when you were VERY young because I worked there in the early 70's and the "Ghost Town in the Glen" theme ended soon after. The place is nothing but a shambles now....in the summer it's been a real problem area for local law enforcement.

Rocky Glen! I think the photos I have are from a trip around 1980. I really do miss those old parks!

Geez, it's like old home week on this thread. I'm yapping with the neighbors! :sunny:

MiaSRN62: I graduated from OMC in 1981. The parents of our class pushed for the arch-D to let their kids go to McDevitt instead of Dougherty; the A-D let us choose and the majority of the class went to McD. A couple to LaSalle HS, Springside, the Mount, and one to Dougherty. I wouldn't be sprised if I know some of your friends! I think I know too many people. :teeth:
