I was just wondering if anyone else feels that by being a dvc member you sometimes get blocked out of certain deals? I recently read that if you are an annual pass holder, you can purchase the dining plan with a discount of 30% if it's purchased with your room reservation...but if you are dvc member and an annual passholder, you are not elgible? Is this true? Has anyone received this discount? :confused3

Where did you read this about a 30% discount on the dining plan?

But no, if you are staying in a DVC resort on points, you are not eligible for deals like 4+3 or free dining because you are not paying cash for your rooms. Those deals are meant to increase hotel bookings, not reward DVC members, who need little if any incentive to visit WDW. If there is such a discount on the dining plan for AP holders, then any AP holder can use it, they just can't also use their points to book the room for the same trip.

I am pretty sure that I read something like ....
AP holders were able to get the DDP without having a package. They would have to be booked on a AP room rate and have a vaid AP.
So the 30% could be the room discount.

The 30% off is what Disney expects you will save by using the DDP. It is not a discount on purchasing the DDP. AP holders and DVC members actually have the same benefit when it comes to purchasing the DDP: Neither has to purchase park admission to do so. :goodvibes
