I noticed that the information regarding the DVC member Christmas Party behind EPCOT is no longer listed on the members' website. Has this event been eliminated this year? :confused3

According to others the info was from last year and was removed from the website a couple of weeks ago. Member Services stated today that they don't have any info about the Merry Mixer for this year yet.

I would think with December only being a month and a half away, DVC may not be planning to have the Merry Mixer. I have e-mailed member services and will notify everyone here once I get a response.

There response yesterday was that they didn't know anything.

It sounds to me like a nice way for Disney to say, "there isn't going to be a Merry Mixer this year". :scared1:

I hope they DO plan to have it yet! WE loved them in the past! The best part is seeing all the characters close up in their holiday costumes. Lots of fun times and a great place to meet up with DIS/DVC board friends too.

I asked while we were there and was told "they are sure it will happen, but no information has been released yet". We'll see, but I am not holding my breath.

The Merry Mixers and Welcome Home Wednesdays are put on by the DVD Marketing Department. If they think that attending will make you buy, they will have them. :goodvibes

I just received official word today that the Merry Mixer Christmas party will indeed take place again this year. DVC is in the process of finalizing the details and once that is complete, the information will be posted on the member's website.

It is unfortunate that we have to plan months in advance for our dining reservations and only find out about the times of the Merry Mixer at the last minute, relatively speaking. I guess time will tell if my December plans coincide with the dates of the Merry Mixer.

When do you think they'll post it? I'm betting on January 2nd. :rotfl2:

What exactly is involved with the Merry Mixer? And what day of the week would it be held on? Thanks.

This would be in keeping with DVC current communication trends. Then they would say it was because the members requested it this way in order to enhance our experience.

DVC has posted information on the 2010 Merry Member Mixer on the member website:
Merry Member Mixer
Celebrate the holiday season by mixing and mingling with all your Disney Vacation Club neighbors. This complimentary Member event will be held at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot® every Friday in December from 3 to 5 p.m. Remember to bring your Member I.D. — it's required for admission.

The whole family is invited for an afternoon of festive fun, such as Disney character photo opportunities, an activity area just for kids and a merry special giveaway. We'll also be decking the halls and enjoying light refreshments.

This event is just one of the many perks of a Disney Vacation Club Membership — and our holiday gift to you.

We look forward to seeing you there!

This event is held on the first four Thursdays in December:
  • December 3
  • December 10
  • December 17
  • December 24

It's getting where I'm embarrassed being a DVC Member.

I feel like I'm dealing with a bunch of idiots. Merry Mixer on Fridays or Thursdays, which is it.

:) Bill

My guess is Thursdays. They most likely cut and pasted last years header info without reading all of it (since they were on Fridays last year). As my luck would have it, I fly in on Friday. Oh well.

In years past the MMMs have been held on Thursdays. Last year they were moved to Fridays as Christmas and New Year's Day were on Thursdays.

The MMMs are member get-togethers with free snacks (rice krispy treats in varous holiday shapes last year) and drinks (cider and water last year). Several characters make appearances in their holiday outfits (we saw Mickey, Minnie and Santa Goofy) and they have a photo op set up where you can use Photopass or your own camera. There are craft stations for kids, a raffle drawing for a gift basket and member-only merchandise for sale. One your way out each family gets a dated DVC ornament.

Will we be able to make it?

We are scheduled to fly into MCO arriving 1:15pm (direct flight) on 12/3. Using ME to Kidani. Will we have enough time to get from MCO to Kidani, check-in and make it to the Merry Mixer?

Just in case we don't have enough time, do they still have Welcome Home Wednesday's during December?

This being our first year as DVC members, we'd like to make it to one of the special events.
