It probably is easier when you are only making reservations for your own family and not for a family renting from you so the name is different every time. That might be part of the problem.

I know I was just on the phone with someone making a hotel reservation for a meeting that I will be attending the first week of March. I had to repeat back to her everything she asked me because I wasn't sure what she said.

I agree, when you start throwing variables and complications into the mix you are bound for more problems. Even wanting the confirmation to go somewhere else will require more input/communication between MS and the caller.

While it is great when everything goes well, unfortunately anyone who deals with communication understands that the more information being communicated merely means the more opportunities for something to get messed up.

I have never had any problems making my reservation. I have always called once and had everything done right. I have had fantastic service from DVC member services.

I spell out all names as simple as Smith now!

How can they get the last name right once and then wrong on the rest of the reservation?

If people only make 1 or 2 reservations per year they might not encounter any problems...while the greater the sampling size the more validity the results and from my little case study there is only one conclusion that can be drawn about the quality of people DVC is hiring...:teacher:

jmho, really think you are painting with too broad a brush here; there can be many reasons why you've experienced what you have and it may not have much to do with the quality of person you've spoken with.....system glitches, distractions in the reservation center since they aren't operating in an isolated chamber, an inexperienced/in training CM etc. We have made many reservation over the years (& more changes to reservations than I care to admit to :rotfl2:) and the only glitch encountered was MS not using points I had transferred in before my points but this was quickly remedied by MS once I realized it.

:)

I've had very few problems with points since we joined in 2003. Every problem we've had has been resolved in a way that made sense to me.

We have checked into BLT and had the children's room key be credit enabled, which we changed right away. I suppose spelling problems could be typos. I hope the OP has better experiences soon.

As soon as I finished reading the original thread, I took a wild stab at where the DVC member was from.....No contest.....New York! Seems to be a common denominator. Read the complaints and the majority are from NY or Joisey :-)

:rotfl: I suppose if all of us lived in the crowded conditions of those two places, we might feel that way too. I lived in NY for 4 years....You are right.

Ha Ha...solves that I will just move...

Having countless spelling errors is just plain lazy/incompetent MS reps...

I always spell the names and addresses out S-L-O-W-L-Y...

Proof, forex, is that they get it right maybe on the first person's last name listed and then for some reason it is spelled wrong (all different places) for the other guests :scared1:

Anyway it looks like 90% get it done perfectly with no call backs...maybe the problems pop up more when the Member is not traveling and the MS rep has to input in new info...

I would think this is correct.....I've made too many reservations to count since 2001 but all have been in our and our childrens names...and ms seems to be able to see anyone who has traveled with us under our membership in the past....

Really now, you honestly think the numbers are going to change that drastically even if you get to 500 for your poll that you want? I think its pretty safe to say that 90% of the members get there resevation correct the first call.

If I keep it alive, I think 500 is a good number...

I think I discovered that MS has problems listening carefully when a member is making res for a guest...sounds like I should do a poll limited to trips booked for non-members and what problems ensue...

Looks like you started the poll almost a month ago and have 247 people participate ...i think most people when they see a poll here answer quickly......not sure how many months longer you'd have to keep this open to reach 500 responses

I think the more guests you have had stay on your membership the more likely there could be an error when booking since all guests names seem to stay attached to your membership....so if ms starts typing in a name and a previous guest had a similar name that would pop up on their screen

At this time, I am more concerned with the start of the restrictions on the resale market. One of the things I liked prior to buying in was the ease of selling. That is why I continued to accumalate points 1000+. However, I knew I wouldn't always need that many points long term just based on annual MF let alone circumstances change and kids grow up :(

As a result, I have begun selling down to point level that I will be comfortable holding long term as I expect the restrictions on resales to increase.

I don't care about the proposed VIP Tiered level nonsense...

Luckily I sold out of VWL, BCV and BWV and moved into BLT when it was announced which will help in terms of quick sales...

I'd bet you wouldn't get much of a response. Most members book trips for themselves and their families.

But it could "out" a bunch of commercial renters.

I've made 4 reservations in the past 2 years for others and had no problems at all.

You must have a small family all with the same last name and no friends...:hippie:

Well, if we are considering all reservations with last names other than ours, then we have made a lot of those over the last few years. I was just thinking of rented reservations and ones made for friends and famliy that we weren't staying with. I would have to go back and look at how many of those we made. But no issues there either.
