Dvc member-please help me!!!

Ok, so a couple months ago, I was speaking to a lady about renting points from here, we agreed on a price, she sent me the reservation info, and told me she would send me a confirmation letter in the mail, after that I was to contact her, to make a payment through paypal. Shortly after, I upgraded to the new yahoo, when I did my inbox was stripped (I had over 69,000 emails, i'm guessing thats way)all my airline confiration everything was gone. Anyway, I never heard from her, didn't have her email to contact her. So we just booked with free dining, and thats that, about a month ago, I'm making dining reservation, and my computer had the reservation saved from the old key west, well it went through, so I checked the dvc online and noticed it was still valid!! After freaking out a bit, trying to figure out how i could get ahold of her to tell her, i checked my sent messages, and found it! I've been sending her messages, telling her it was still active, and what was going on. I tried to do online check-in(i didn't finish it, just seeing if it would let me) and it was going to let me, I've called and no one can give me info because I'm not a member. If i jsut don't show up, will she get her points back? Or will she loose them no mater what? I don't know what else to do!!!! Please some advise or info!!!!!!!!:confused3
 
Do you know what her screen name is here? Have you searched her to see if she still posts? Have you sent her a PM here on DIS?

If you don't show up then the member will just lose the points. And since it's under 30 days if the reservation is cancelled at least 1 day prior then the points go into holding.

Strange that they left the reservation intact without payment and it's nice you are trying to contact them.

Have you paid her? I assume you have since, if I understood your post, the reservation is still active. Her contact information should be on the PayPal receipt which you should be able to access through your PayPal Account.

As far as losing her points it depends upon when the reservation is cancelled. But if she has your money does it really matter? :confused3
 

Actually, I just did and looked up her name, her last posts was in August, trying to sell my reservation, one person did respond! This is after I emailed her telling her, so she does know, Hmmmm. I just hope she doesnt lose them.:confused3

I really wouldn't worry about it. Have fun on your vacation.

Maybe she is hoping to get another renter and just change the name on the reservation.

Nope payment was never sent! We were going to do this after i got conirmation in the mail, but nothing came. Thats why I'm upset, she would really lose out on this.:confused:
 
If you have her name, do you have an address? Perhaps you could find a phone number and try to call?

I guess I missed this post. It's commendable that your trying to do right by this individual. Since money didn't change hands, and no contract signed, I would assume the ball is in her court. The risk is all hers at this point. As for you, your responsibility is for you and your family to enjoy your visit to WDW! :thumbsup2
 
Thanks everyone! No, I don't have her name or address or phone number, I just have a first, I looked through all my emails. Maybe she is just holding off to get someone else to rent them. I guess all I can do is email her everyday until I leave on Thursday.

When you checked the reservation online does it still have your family listed or has she change it to someone else? You can check that on the Disney my reservation location. Since you had the number you would be able to see that it is still there but you need to check the details to see if she changed the names. Then you can quit worrying about it. I can't imagine she would have left it in place and not contacted you about payment before this if she still expected you to use the reservation. Hope you have a magical trip and receive some special pixie dust for being so concientious about this.
 
You've done all you can, I would not worry about it. If she loses the points, it's her fault for not cancelling it at 31 days when she did not have payment.

I don't know what that means exactly (and it's probably too late now) but I definitely would NOT do on-line check in for a reservation you're not using - the owner would not get any notice of that or anything and that sounds like a way to just mess things up. I really think you have done all you can do, OP, it's the owner's issue now. Just enjoy your vacation and stop stressing over it!

I don't know why you would consider this? The owner won't have any idea that you check in.

It's very possible that something happened to them but at this point you've tried everything you could so I'd recommend you just let it go and enjoy your vacation.
