DVC member get togethers?

I believe I have read about DVC events while you are at WDW? When are they? And what should I be looking for information wise regarding these events?

Also, do you get anything special when you check in? This will be our first visit in 11 days at BLT.

For trips anytime of the year, you can go to the Atlantic Dance Hall at Boardwalk and join in the fun with "Welcome Home Wednesdays" I think it starts at 4PM and goes about 1 hr. Snacks and soft drinks are available, and everyone gets a DVC Hat (usually). If you participate in the game show activities, you may "win" other DVC stuff.

The Annual Meeting is in December. It is a good meeting to go to. It takes about 3 hours but if interesting.

Also in December you can participate in a Christmas Party for DVC. There you get the Christmas Ornament (one per family).

There are lots of details about the above I'm sure others will fill in for you.

We went to one at BLT last week. I stopped and asked at one of the booths st MK. He had me call from our villa the next moring and book. They don't do them everyday. Ours was on Tuesday at 1pm. They have some drinks and snacks and of cours some DVC goodies. They also raffled off a $100 gift card. Also each person in attendance was given a card worth 3 instant FP. A nice family in foront of us was leaving that day and gifted us their FP!
I enjoyed this "open house" much more than the big meeting over at Boardwalk.

When we stayed at VGC last Feb, we got a voucher for Aulani mini art and schedule of DVC event included in our welcome packet. Good thing I checked.

I have never been able to attend one of the DVC get togethers, but when We return home (BLT) in September, we are planning to.

You don't get anything when you check in but the information is out there. There is a sign on the wall in the elevator about the Wednesday get together at the Atlantic Dance Hall. You can set up a tour of BLT (top of the world and a couple different rooms) at any DVC location (i assume). You can also got to another DVC location and tour there on your own. Just let the guide know you are already a member so they can put their time into somebody else that may be a new buy in. We love BLT and there is tons to do. They have the camp fire down on the beach (you will see the small fire pit when going for a boat). They show movies on the little walkway between BLT and CR and they always have the Chip and Dale movie over in Fort Wilderness. You can also borrow DVDs from the common hall (first floor). You can watch the fireworks from the observation deck of the CR (also from the top of the world) and the water parade from the CR dock. In honesty, mostly what we do is just sit on the balcony and watch the boats come and go. If you go during December they do 4 Christmas parties for DVC members one each week to get as many people as possible. They aren't fancy but very nice and totally worth going to. There is a lot to be said for being able to walk across the parking lot and be in the MK or a simple boat ride to FW or WL and just chill out in a rocker or a monorail ride to the Poly or GF...
