Do you think they will offer a member cruise in 2006?

Maybe since this one sold out so fast. Or they could skip it and do something else like they did in 2004.

The same dates in 2006 DCL stopped taking ressies, this means that a certain group maybe taking the dcl over, maybe dvc again.... :goodvibes

If so, I am sooo there!!! A quick question, how many in each cabin have to be booked on points?

None. You can pay cash for your entire party, but the rates are higher than a normal cruise. I think that the price chart for this year's Member Cruise are still listed on the Member Site.

We paid cash for the 4 of us for the Member Cruise. I didnt want to use points, in case we had to cancel. Cash was fully refundable up to the penalty period.

Also, there was a alot of disappointment when the points and cash costs of the DVC member cruise were announced, many thought it was gouging and DVC taking advantage of the members. Many of us, who booked anyway, were happily surprised to find that the cost included all gratuities when we called to book that day.

We booked a Cat 9 for 2 adults and 2C under 10 and our 4 day was very comparable (DVC $120-$150 more) to travel agent pricing (allseastravel.com) so thats where the extra points/cash came in. More than worth it, because DVC always puts so much into these events to make them extra special.

Hopefully DVC will offer the cruise again next year, but you can make an informed decision on the cost, because Im sure there will be plenty of griping again, about the cost.

Crystal is right. There was griping before the first Member Cruise yet many of us had a great time and thought we got a great value. There was griping before Member Homecoming. Again many of us had a great time and got a great value. We weren't surprised to hear griping again before this Member Cruise booked. We also weren't surprised to see that many who booked it had also booked the first Member Cruise, Member Homecoming (or both!)

Yes tips are included in our fare (which it is not on a regular cruise). In addition DVC does listen to suggestions. Those of us who had done the first cruise and were booking this one were hoping for a way to get together before the cruise. DVC is throwing a Bon Voyage party at Pleasure Island the night before (much like the current Member Block Party) including free admission into the clubs for those cruising.

I honestly believe that DVC goes above and beyond to make these events great.

Member events aren't for everyone but we have never been disappointed. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have planned for us this year!

What dates in 2006 are closed for reservations?

I am sure that there will be many more Members' Cruises. Why kill a cash cow?

I really hope they do one in 2006.

I had to cancel this one since I just did not have ANY vacation time left and really wanted to go to the Food and Wine Festival in October......

I wish they would have it at a different time of year. I am going on the member cruise this year, and feeling a tad guilty for taking the kids out of school for their first week. I am afraid that I will have such a great time on this cruise that I won't want to miss the next one, but I can't make a habit out of the kids missing the first week of school. Any other week, I would not hesitate to take them out of. They are still young, and can catch up quickly.

I failed to find the thread that was on the cruise board about a month or two ago. Days in the beginning of September '06, a little later than this years dates, were suddenly blocked out for cruising, and I must admit that I thought, hey, another DVC cruise.

I'm for a different time of year. We cancelled the Yellowstone trip that had been planned for this year to go on this years Member Cruise. We have found traveling around Labor Day to be a good time to visit National Parks, and were hoping we finally would get to Yellowstone in '06. If I had to choose between a cruise and Yellowstone again, I really don't know which would win out.

You can make ressies in Yellowstone 2 years ahead of time, and this year, I am waiting until October before going ahead with those plans.
