Booked PV, BUT MY WAITLIST came through about 3 weeks later!

Was waitlisted for IV 2 Br dedicated and 2BR lockoff IV. 2 BR IV became available, lockoff and still are on list for 2 BR dedicated...Very HAPPY that IV waitlist came through! Happy to "conserve" the 20 extra points!

I am getting really nervous. Just looked at the website to see how Aulani availability was looking today. I can't book until Aug. 8th and as of right now Aug. 7th is gone for IV studios and Aug 6 & 7 is gone for the PV studios. The wait for the next 2 1/2 days is gonna be the death of me!!

Thanks. This whole process is so nerve wrecking. I was afraid all along that since things fell into place last year what would my odds be of it happening 2 yrs. in a row? Slim probably. I just need the planets to align perfectly for me on the 8th. My dumb luck our Comcast will be on the fritz with all of this darned iceberg weather or something.

I just booked again for July and thankfully had no problem. This will b our 3rd trip to Aulani(3 consecutive years) so it is possible ...but I definitely understand the nervous feeling!!!

So I just spent all afternoon on hold waiting for MS - we have a quickie weekend trip coming up over MLK weekend and I am getting really nervous about the weather & flight delays & cancelations etc. so I wanted to find out what might be available on cash with the DVC disc. and for how much just in case I decide to try to get down there a night earlier to avoid weather problems. ANYWAY, while I was on the phone I was digging a little more into the borrowing & wait listing rules. Historically we're not point borrowers so I was fuzzy on the restrictions. There is absolutely no point for us to waitlist a lower view if we have to borrow to book a higher view because once we borrow those points they will go into our current UY and will have to be TRAVELED ON by Nov. 30th of this year bcuz we have a Dec UY. So if we have to book a higher view initially on Wed. then we may as well accept that as our view for the trip because the borrowed points will be stuck. I did not realize this and for all of my yammering around here about waitlisting I am surprised nobody pointed that out to me. (Guess Dean hasn't been following my ramblings.) I am just glad I nosed around about it before it was too late!!

I was in the SAME exact situation. I needed to borrow "extra" points when the island view was not available at all and the only available choice was PV. So, I decided to go ahead, book the PV and waitlist IV. I knew that I was taking a trip to WDW later this year, so I was not concerned about whether I could use the points in my current Use Year.

When my waitlist came through, the 20 points were put back and I plan to use them this year in Dec....

As much as I would love to plan another trip before the end of the year our current AP's from last summer will expire in August so I know we won't go because we'd have to buy tix all over again….AND borrow more pts to do that. Plus now we will have to buy DL tix for this trip. So no more trips for us until 2015 with whatever is left from this. Our DS graduates from HS in 2015 so we would like to plan another cruise for 2015 but DCL has been pricing us out so we'll see.

Borrowing is final, so any borrowed points would have to be used by the end of the use year they were borrowed into.

However, if you have current use year points and borrowed points in the reservation, they should be able to return current year points to your account if your waitlist comes through. That way if you're still within your banking window, you can bank them to next year. They would still have to be used by Nov 30, 2015, but it gives you an extra year. And if tickets are a concern, you could always use them at Hilton Head Island or Vero Beach - no tickets required!

On pins & needles…one more day until I can book. Checked availability at 8:00 am - Aug. 12th is gone on the PV studios. SO FAR the first 6 nights we want are open on the IV and the OV. Just need to make it until tomorrow morning at 8:00 with it not changing and with the next night open. Really hoping for that IV. I'm chewing my nails. My cuticles. Wringing my hands. My left eye is jumping. I'm a mess!!

Thanks! I just looked again (because yes, I am THAT obsessed) and the PV was now open on Aug. 12th. Sigh. So strange how the availability comes & goes.

Thank you. He actually had ANOTHER pneumothorax in early November which resulted in lung surgery this time and a 4 night hospital stay….on the bright side he should hopefully never, ever, ever have another one again so we should be good to go this summer. (UNLESS he's in the 10% of people who have it happen to both lungs.)

OK kids, thanks for all of your pixie dust - I JUST finished booking!! Got our IV studio for 7 nights August 8-15. I was online at like 6:30 this morning just toodling around & waiting. Had a stare-down with the clock on the corner of the computer for the last 5 minutes. As soon as I finished booking I sent an email to request the highest floor possible in the long wing of the Ewa building. Then at 8:14 I went back & did another search for an IV studio and August 8th was gone so I would've had to book the PV if I'd have been any later with my booking. Of course I'm sure villa availability changes throughout the day just like when I looked the other day early and the 12th was gone then later that day it was available. What counted for me in my situation tho was what was available when I had to make the decision on which contract to borrow from at the time I made the reservation.

Anyway, so glad this is over!! Now I can go build a ticker and concentrate on getting ready for our trip to WDW next weekend and searching for a good rate on a flight between LAX and HNL (which is currently REALLLLLY high).
