We are staying for our first visit as DVC members this fall. We were trying to figure out which hotels we can pool hop to. I know AKL and Beach/Yacht Clubs are out unless staying there, but what about non-DVC hotels? Or is it only DVC hotels that we can go to?

(I know this has been posted before, but the search never works).

Thanks!

You can hop to any WDW resort pools (DVC or non-DVC) except Stormalong Bay at the Yacht & Beach Clubs and the pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We really like the pool at Coronado Springs!

I agree with CraftyMouse except we are not allowed to hop to any pool at the YC/BC/BCV,including the quiet pools.

Note that we can't hop to Swan or Dolphin, either - those are not Disney owned.

We went to AK when family members there and we were at SSR,no offense to anyone, but the pool was nothing special, plus crowded.

we just don`t see an advantage to pool hopping, alot of time spent hopping when we have those great, quiet and EMPTY quiet pools outside our door !

Excellent, thanks everyone!

We really like Coronado Springs as well...in fact, we've only ever stayed there, until this next trip where we are at SSR and AKV. And that's where we wanted to pool hop to (Coronado Springs, that is).

We went for our 1st "DVC" trip in May to AKV and pool hopped to Coronado Springs and the Poly. We just carried our suits to the parks, with empty ziplocks for after and took out mid-day break at these resorts. We had our CS meal there and swam, then headed back to the park we started at. Our kids loved the break and a new pool. We did those pools before the AKV pool, and my kids were kind of disappointed in that pool.

The process is you have to be staying at a DVC resort ON POINTS and are supposed to call the front desk of the destination pool to ask permission rather than simply showing up. It's subject to capacity issues so it's possible you could be told OK on the phone and denied access on arrival. It's also possible, if not likely, to get someone who says OK on the phone when it really wasn't but you don't find out until arrival (you have no recourse). Or more likely still, that they don't know that PH is allowed and tell you no without having a clue.

So how often do you get denied at the pool you are hopping to?

We've only hopped once and I guess we totally didn't follow protocol (oops!). We were staying at BCV. We left SAB to take a walk over to Boardwalk Bakery. The kids still had their swimsuits on. We asked a CM at the pool if they could go on Keister Coaster a few times and we were told to go ahead.

Other than the blackout times, I don't think one is denied very often other than by misinformation because the person you call at the destination resort isn't well informed.

We did it twice in May and didn't follow protocol. We weren't denied access, no one even looked at us twice.
