When did autograph books become so expensive to buy at Disneyland?

I remember when autograph books at Disneyland used to cost $6 in the 90's but today I cannot figure out why autograph books have become so expensive to buy at Disneyland? Because I noticed that the autograph books have become smaller and the pages look like a shopping list and from what I've read is that the pens that come with the new autograph books break easily and are hard for the characters to use. I also cannot figure out why they have big autograph books that are like a high school yearbook and I don't know why these big autograph books are so big with families and they are even more pricey than the small autograph books that Disneyland sells. Is this because Disneyland is experimenting with different types of autograph book styles and they simply want to raise the price of autograph books and in my eyes Disneyland should lower the price of autograph books to a cheaper price

Do you have a reference or picture of the type of book you are referring to? Could it be a photo album?

Disneyland still sells the same size photo album they've had for years. Most characters with hands or paws that can hold a pen will sign a book. A few, such as Anger, Rex, and Baymax can't hold pens so don't give autographs. In those cases, the handler usually informs guests in line before they reach the character.

Is this based on you actually going to Disneyland and seeing this OR are you speculating based on things you've read or seen on the internet, as you seem to have a propensity to do?

I’m perfectly content with a regular notebook… I’ll be using the cost of an autograph book for something else at Disney 😝

I think the reason why Disneyland has raised the price of autograph books is because I think they want to make changes to autograph books and add additional items to make them more expensive like pens and sticker sheets. But as I mentioned Disneyland should have virtual autograph books or an autograph app and they would make a whole lot of money doing this
