We got our latest MagicBands for our next stay, but they didn't include the DVC MagicSlider. It's being reports on some other sites that it's discontinued. Can anyone confirm?

We just become Annual Passholders for the first time. We were excited to be able to sport both the DVC and Passholder MagicSliders together. =p

They are no longer sending the DVC Member MagicSliders with MagicBands for DVC Reservations. You can check with the front desk at check-in to see if they have any left. It's possible that they may be available at the DVC Preview Center @ SSR.

We didn't get an offer to even pre-order magic bands for our up-coming trip in June. I got a message on MDE that they would be waiting on us at check-in - this was the first time we weren't offered a chance to select custom colors or anything. I'm assuming they would just be the plain gray ones. I guess we'll just bring old bands from previous trips to avoid have to wear the gray ones. Anybody else not get offered the choice to pre-order bands lately?? Thoughts?

Have not had that. Ours just shipped for our upcoming POLY trip. The only thing I could think would cause the issue you state, would be if you reservation was made close to your arrival date.

I asked at the front desk at SSR in December when we stayed there. They had to go looking for them, but we did get them.

We usually get an email to remind us to customize our bands before an upcoming trip. If you don't get a reminder you can always go onto MDE to customize them if there is ample time before check-in. You can also decline new bands if you so desire.

That's the thing - there are none sitting out there on MDE to customize or to decline. We booked promptly at 7 months....

And your reservation is showing up as linked in MDE? If not then the bands won't be there, although you said there was a message to pick them up. Strange.

You have to physically link your reservation to MDE by entering your reservation # after you book it. If you book at 7 months you will have plenty of time to customize your MBs.

Thanks guys - I don't remember ever having to do this manually before (and this is probably our 6th or 7th trip since they started using them). But I guess that was the problem. I went in and entered the res conf. # and now it gives an option to customize our bands rather than telling me they will be waiting on us. I know the last 2 times we went tho we had our customized bands (with the DVC and AP sliders) AND they still had the plain gray ones waiting on us at the desk too. Such a wasted expense for them to make those too. This whole planning nonsense makes my head hurt sometimes. Whatever happened to "just going to Disney"?!?! :crazy2:

Yes, it seems like our reservations used to just show up on MDE automatically, the dining reservations still do. I have been manually entering them when they aren't there. It makes no sense except that Disney IT stinks half the time.

Sadly, this whole planning nonsense IS "just going to Disney" these days. Like the planning is part of the "experience " and believe me we are paying for it. I know a lot of people love this part of it but like you, it makes my head hurt. I don't find it fun to decide 6 months in advance where we might want to eat, dictating where you need to be on a certain day, depending on the weather, etc. With the high crowds all year, ticket price increases, the tiered APs and what they are doing with DVC like cramming more people in a studio, higher direct prices, studios only at the Poly, etc, the magic is quickly fading for me.

I SO agree about the waste involved with the MB situation. The packaging of the mailings, sometimes multiple. That lovely 25 Year packet with really nothing in it except the new member cards. Most households got 2 of these BTW. Oh yeah, we pay for that stuff too as part of the experience. Giving you less for more seems to be the trend and it seems to be working for them.

Rant over. :headache: Now I will go back to planning my next trip.

We haven't even received this 25 year packet or our new membership cards yet!! Starting to wonder if we ever will get it?!

Stopped mailing about 9 months ago.

Except that I got one for my trip that I'm still on. :)

I've had to do about half of mine manually, FWIW.

That's bizarre.

But you CAN decline bands now.

Thank goodness we can decline the MB's now. Who needs 4 or 5 MB's per person in one's family? Seems like a lot of waste to me. I don't request them at all anymore. I reuse the ones we have received in the past.

The batteries in them won't last forever. They don't want to just assume your old ones are still working or haven't been damaged. It just took them a while to build a way for you to tell them "Ours are good!"
