DVC magic band is now Direct only

Saw post on FB and did not believe it, then went to site and they added the word Direct to the name of the magic band.

Edit - confirmed via call and they now have it in writing on the website

Has to be a miscommunication or misunderstanding. They sell them to everyone in the resort stores and no one gets them for free anymore. Perhaps they are only offering discounted price to blue card holders, but even that seems odd to me.

I don't follow Disney FB pages /fan sites & do not take anything said to originate there at face value. Always look for a more trustworthy site for my Disney info.

This is a very bad sign - they had to write code to block this on the website so that is a lot of trouble for just a magic band .. what is next Dooney stuff??

And they limit it to 10 items! I’d laugh but maybe there is a secondary market for these… to non direct owners maybe????!!

Just got one 2 days ago at the resort. I’m resale but from years ago with blue card. Don’t know if that means anything. I like it. It’s white with just the little blue and grey mickeys.

Yeah - It would be interesting to see if they restrict it in person. I mean you can order them and give them to a non member so I don't get why you would take the effort to have the website restrict.

I have one and they look better in person, but I like the pseudo toile look.

We're both white and blue card, so I'm just going to see what reaction I get. Son and DIL are on a plane now and we're blocked out of parks tomorrow so we are going to Wilderness Lodge for breakfast and Topolino's for dinner tomorrow (maybe DS inbetween), so I'll have plenty of opportunities. I bought a plain black one and I really don't know what I was thinking LOL!

I'm still using my ollder Magic Bands, and even so, probably won't replace them with MB+ unless the standard bands are discontinued.

I do think that that DVC MB+ looks nice, though. Clean an uncluttered.

I bought some when I was there last month but haven't paired them yet. I wonder if it limits the pairing as well?

I guess if they aren't going to have real perks for Blue Card members they can make DVC merch purchases restricted. That'll increase their sales of a non-limited item and make people happy, win-win. /s

I wasn’t going to get one but I really like this. It’s subtle in design. Of course, I took advantage of the Black Friday sale on other things and this helped me get to my free shipping! Lol
