DVC looking for Illinois Real Estate Agents

I just got an email stating the DVC is looking for independent sales agents for the DVC. Some of the details include: work from home, 100% commission, DVC training provided in Chicago & WDW, must have active Illinois real estate license, must be Illinois resident, will be independent sales agent.

Anybody know what this is all about? Will this compete with existing guides, or is it intended to compete with the resale market?

I don't think this is anything new. There are some sales guides who work out of their homes currently.

I am curious, who did you receive the email from?

I got the same email, but they were looking for NYS licensed RE. It was mailed from DVC...

I know they have guides working from their homes and some are part time and maybe even some full time folks.

Right about now I wish I lived in Illinois and was a licensed real estate agent!!!

I received an email as well.

It seems they are tyring to recruit agents for their Doorway to DReams currently in Illinois and soon to be NY and are giving DVC members from these states a heads up. I don't think it means that you can go to century 21 and buy DVC as a poster on another thread had thought.

I didn't interpret it as meaning you could buy DVC through C21 and or Remax etc.

I think they are looking for agents who are good at networking to increase their sales for the 2 current Doorway to Dreams...hence the reason IL and NY residents got these emails.

My husband wants me to do it...but so far I'm not so hot on the idea

Some of the key words is that these agents will be "independent" agents, thus, not CM's. Are the current guides employees of Disney?

I'm not sure really...but as far as using Realtors...we are all considered "independent contractors" I think this position means you have a relationship with Disney, but not in the sense of an employee/cast member. I would guess that there would be some sort of Disney perks associated with the position of some sorts.

DSis forwarded me the email - very curious timing as I was just looking into DVC jobs last night!

I don't have a real estate license - but a lot of related experience, and I'd jump into a class right now if that counts.

Perhaps it has something to do with the lay-offs that have been happening as well ... trying to maintain the workforce via independent contractors vs. employees/cast members.

I got the same email too for Illinois. My wife and I own an independent real estate brokerage in the Chicago suburbs and are both brokers...

We'll get our resumes together and get it out...I am dying to know the details!

The Real Estate Reps they are looking for will be COMPLETELY independent. It is 100% commission based. You have to go get DVC Customers on your own. I am not sure of the benefits, but I am sure it won't be nearly as many as Disney Cast Members get. Technically, these reps won't be working FOR Disney, rather working for themselves getting business for Disney.
