Just thinking back to when I joined. Those kiosks for DVC info weren't very informative. ANyone feel the same? They never gave any good info.

I think the intent of the kiosk's is to provide basic information about DVC and to set up an appointment to take the tour. They will set to the time and arrange transportation for those staying onsite.

The kiosk CM's are not DVC guides and cannot answer any of the sales questions. Most seem to have a basic understanding of the DVC program and are sometimes a good source of info about the latest DVC rumors, but their job is hawk potential members and get them to the Preview Center where the guides can handle the sale.

I know I could just hug the CM at VB who signed up my husband for an appointment. DH returned to the room and said , "Oh, by the way we have a tour scheduled tomorrow afternoon with DVC." I never thought we would join, although I secretly hoped we would. Four happy years and 5 trips later, we just added on 50 points.

The pixie dust was strong that day!

I've noticed alot less of them since the economy nose dived. They are often unmanned. One was very helpful though when my train was delayed for 10 hours. They searched all of the inventory for an accommodation should we need one. There was none left where we were at VWL and it was August!.

The kiosk that we saw in 1999 was great....although they did not have alot of specific info, the picture book and info provided did help pique our interest, and ultimately led to 300 points.

Just curious, how are tours handled at VB? Do they take you up to the preview center at WDW or do they do it at VB?

I don't think that VB or HH still have any kiosk desk. I know that the sales office at HH closed a couple of years ago and there is no sales staff still at the resort.

I doubt that DVC will provide transportation to the WDW Preview Center from VB (and I know it won't happen from HH).

Someone at those resorts may be willing to assist setting up an appointment at the SSR Center, but be prepared to get there yourself. :)

I'm not sure if each of the All Star resorts has them, but we first learned about DVC while staying at ASM last year.

However, it was the Disney cable channel devoted to DVC that convinced me to step up to the kiosk and set up a tour, not the cute sales-woman behind the banner....:o :hyper:
