We have attended this in the past and are thinking of joining DVC. Last time they offered a 50 dollar on board credit for attending a one-on-one session after the group informational session. Does anyone know if they are still offering this? Are there any other promotions for just attending the session? Our friends want to go as well but don't want to join DVC - they would like the be entered into the contest for the 200 OBC raffle for attending the session though :)

There used to a time when there were extra incentives to purchase DVC while on board that were not available if you purchased on land, but that has since changed. Whatever the current offers are on land is what you pay on board.

As for participation gifts:
We have done the DVC presentation on board. They usually have some light drinks and snacks and often will have some sort of take away swag. Sometimes beach cup holders, or portfolio books etc. And as you mentioned, a $200 on board credit (which my wife one and spent on a couples massage on castaway cay - how nice of her to share!).

They are not high pressure during this group presentation at all. As you know they talk about what the point system is and what resorts there are and making memories with family and friends.

I have not done the individual presentation. I would not be surprised that they offer $50 on board credit for another hour of your time. They offer compensation while at Disney World as well.

Visit the DVC forum and learn some more about the DVC sales process and benefits. Some people are electing to go through the resale market whih doesn't provide the same type of benefits but amounts to a high cost savings. Each family and their decisions are different.

Hope you have a good time!

When we went earlier this year, they were offering WDW fast passes for booking an appointment to discuss options. The only onboard credit was to win a drawing.

We just sailed on the Wonder a few weeks ago and they were offering $50 onboard credit if you go in and meet one-on-one with a salesperson. We are already DVC owners so we were not eligible but my mom met with them and got the credit. They are not high pressure at all.

And definitely worth a shot to sit through a 45 minute group presentation for the onboard credit. We usually go at least once on each cruise to try to win. This time we had me, my mom, dh and ds who just turned 18. He actually won the drawing! And that $200 came in handy when I saw the new Pandora charms.

Are there less people at the first session? I'm thinking of odds at winning the $200 credit.

Yep. And pretty much any incentive they offer that feels cruise specific will be offered on land too.

I gotta disagree with it not being high pressure.

You’re in a cruise and having a great time. Family is smiling. You’ve got a mimosa in your hand. And they are playing ads of multigeneration families going with on and on about how it’s the best decision ever... I have had to restrain DH each time from buying more points.

We can easily walk out of car dealerships with their high pressure stuff. But Dvc’s pressure (like I’m describing...there are some car seles guides around, too) is different and IMO higher.

:rotfl2: Yea that is one way to put it. I would say their tactics are persuasive, but they aren't trying to chase you down the hall getting you to buy anything. They ask you questions like, how much do you spend, what are your vacation habits like, how big is your family. So yes, it is manipulation, but you aren't going to walk away feeling like if you didn't sign up then they would chase you down and beat on your room door all night begging for you to come back.

There was a $50 OBC offered for a 1:1 session on our December 26th sailing of the Dream. I didn't go as that wasn't how I wanted to spend the precious time on my cruise, but I read the offer in the Personal Navigator.

New Year 2019, might as well post here and update the thread.

DW and I just got off the Fantasy SWDAS and got $50 for attending the 45 minute presentation and another $50 for scheduling a one on one for 45 minutes. Also there was a $200 raffle. No pressure at all, even got invited to the DVC mixer and enjoyed our $100 OBC. Unfortunately we’re priced out at 150 points for 30K.

Was that the presentation that is open to everyone? How did you get $50 for attending? I understand the one on one $50 would be to their advantage but I'd go to the open presentation for $50.

Yes, $50 OBC just for attending the open presentation with my wife. They take your info at the door and you fill out a card for the raffle.
