DVC Incentive end date

DW and I have pretty much made up our mind to purchase 200 points at BLT. We're not quite ready start the process yet, ideally we'd have liked to wait until September but as we'd like to use our '09 points in April '10 we'll probably get the process started in the next few weeks.

Our guide has been really helpful and told us that we can pay the down payment now and hold up the paperwork for 60 days, giving us a little more time. He also told us that the current incentives are here until at least the end of May so if any of you are still on the fence you still have a while longer to decide without the risk of loosing the current deals.

Given the oddities of incentive end dates at the end of March, I'd take his statement of when they'll end with a grain of salt. Our guide told us the previous incentives ended March 25 (I think..it was the date that GCV opened for everyone to buy). Others said an earlier group of dates. Others said a later group of dates. All of the dates were coming from the various guides that people have.

So I wouldn't take what he said as the Absolute be all end all, and pay attention to what you read of others saying, and go with the earliest date you end up hearing.

Haven't heard of holding paperwork for 60 days, though! (I only recently joined DVC but I've lurked around these forums for ages)

And, keep in mind, that you can always change your incentives up until the contract closes. So, if better incentives come out, you are able to easily get your contract amended for the better incentives. And, for what it's worth, our Guide also gave us the option of a 60 day deferred down payment, but we went ahead and just paid all of it (if you don't pay, you will get a letter threatening the cancellation of your contract at about day 20 after you sign your paperwork, but you are supposed to just call your Guide if you want to extend the payment date). But, please do keep in mind that incentives can change at any time, and can get either better or worse depending on how sales are going. If you are ready to buy and want to take advantage of the current incentives, I would highly recommend taking the plunge. Either way, best of luck to you during your DVC buying journey. We bought in March, and I can't wait for my first trip HOME!!

Do you have a Disney Visa? You get 6 months, 0% interest for DVC charges. I was originally told it was up to $2500 but I am actually getting it on the entire contract amount that I put on the card.

If don't own one, you might want to apply for one just to get this perk. It would allow you to buy now, but have to worry about having to pay it off in full for 6 months!

We are planning to make our first trip in April 2010. We already have a vacation planned for September 2009 so cant wait for 2010!
