DVC in May - how busy is it?

We're planning on taking a 7-night Caribbean cruise in May next year and would like to stay a week before or after the cruise at WDW. We have some flexibility as to which cruise to take, but will most likely need May 18-25 or May 25- Jun 1 for our stay at WDW. We do not care which DVC property we end up at but would prefer to be in the same property the entire time. As my home resort is Aulani, I'm wondering if some of the experienced members can shed some light on generally how busy DVC gets in mid to late May. Given that May 24-27 is Memorial Day weekend, does that mean my chance at 7-month out is practically zero?

If you don't care about which resort you should be able to find something to stay at the whole week. May isn't as crowded a month and you will probably have a chance for many of the resorts unless you are looking for a Grand Villa.

This is the best news for today! What a relief... I thought Memorial Day weekend would mean that there's no chance as Aulani was fully booked for Memorial wknd this year when we were there (so I just assume it's busy at WDW too). But I guess there are more DVC properties at WDW than Hawaii.

now just waiting patiently until our Disney cruise this Sep which is also when we plan on booking the next cruise in May with the onboard discount... and then the WDW DVC at 7-month out...

There are a lot of schools in the south that are out before Memorial Day, so that week will be harder to get than the week before. Early in the month is easier still.

We just stayed at a GV at AKV May 16-20 and booked at less than 7 month mark

We just stayed 5/22-5/26 and were able to book a lake view studio at BLT inside of seven months. Also could have taken a 1 br at BCV, or whatever we wanted at OKW or SSR. Nothing at VWL or BWV. Don't remember about AKV.

We were able to get a 1 br at BWV for similar dates last year, also inside of seven months.

SSR will certainly be open at 7 months out (it always is except for treehouses). OKW will most likely be open except for GVs and some of the rooms around Hospitality House (a booking category). AKV savanna or standard view also highly likely to be open and possibly even GVs at Kidani; value and concierge category likely to be gone. BWV pool/garden view likely to have openings, lower chance for standard or boardwalk view and no chance for GV. BLT lake view also likely and possibly even Theme Park view but standard view highly unlikely. 1BRs at BCV and VWL likely but lower chance otherwise at either of those.
