DVC in CAlifornia???

There are NO booking fees to stay at the DL hotels thru DVC!!! Only Cruises, II and other areas..In fact, i just book to stay there for next month and there are no charges. BUT, once you booked and transfered the points to DL hotels and you cancel, you cannot use those points for the 7 DVC hotels. You can only use them for DL, Cruises, I.I. in that used year. So be very careful planning.

That is true - MS calls them "reservation points." We had 5 days booked at GC this past August, and changed it to three days. The points were put in a "reservation points" status, but you can use them at a non-DVC resort at WDW. We are using them for 2 nights at AKL after our SSR stay in June.   They were banked points from 2005, so we have to use them before Aug 2007. You have to be careful about that, too, but MS is really helpful in keeping track. :sunny:

Definitely, like the prestigious membership cards embossed with your name and, um...there's also the...uh...

No, wait, I got it; Let's see, there's those cards - I mentioned that - and also...the...hmm...

That's weird, I'm drawing a blank.

:Pinkbounc You have to admit - they are pretty :thumbsup2 We tried to use the advertised "free valet parking" for DVC at GC - we were told that they didn't know anything about any free parking at all. Charged us $12 per day. None of the shops anywhere, nor any of the restaurants that we used offered a DVC discount - only AP discounts - but we love the card!!! :Pinkbounc

Space is at a premium, but there is space. The Pumbaa lot can hold a parking garage for more Disneyland parking, which would then make the Timon lot available for building resorts or adding to DCA. Some or all of the Downtown Disney parking lot and Pinocchio parking lot could also be turned into parking structures, which would free up more space. Phase two of Downtown Disney could have shops on the first floor and DVC units on the second floor, similar to what the Grand Californian already has. The grounds of the GC has room for expansion on that grass lawn which is currently used for weddings. The Disneyland hotel could either be torn down, or renovated to include DVC units, just like they are doing at AKL. Paradise Pier could also be torn down or DVC units added to it by simply expanding that parking garage. Don't forget the strawberry field down Harbor Blvd. also.

Take it all with a grain of salt. I walked into the BWV model room to look around since we will be there in January.

The sales guide said that there would be 2 annoucements this year - one for DVC Cali and probably Hawaii. Now how does he know this when AKV came out of no where basically.

Also said that there would be no way they would make a Poly or Cont DVC because there is just no more land to do it around there. Yet I saw some interesting things going on at STOL and in the North Wing last week (we stayed in the Tower).

I am thinking they will convert hotel space in CA like at AKL. My bet is the Bonita Tower at Disneyland Hotel. My reasons? Take a look at that ground floor space, empty, and big enough for a check-in desk, grocery/gift shop. The Fantasy Waters, or what ever it is called is closed, and has a quiet pool nearby, and it is close to a parking lot. Table service restaurants within walking distance near the theme pool, and over at Paradise Pier.
