Any chance Disney would every build a DVC resort in the Bahamas where there island is.. Castaway Key?? (not sure of name..?) As much as Id love to go to the Hawaii Resort we are at the complete opposite end of the country and cant see my kids flying that long.. May have to look into Vero Beach or Hilton Head soon..

Unlikely. Castaway Cay has very limited services and reportedly the bugs are terrible in the evening. To add the services necessary to support a timeshare and the building it self would spoil the tranquility of the island.

Moreover, as long as Castaway Key continues to successfully serve its existing purpose as a stop off for the cruise, Disney has no reason to change. That does not mean there will never be a Bahama's DVC resort since there are a lot of places in the Bahama's but I am guessing it is not even something in the "let's think about it someday" box at DVD right now.

Aulani is the big step they have taken out of the usual mold of park resorts (HH and VB are what made them go to just doing park resorts for many years because those took a very long time and a lot of discounts larger than other DVC resorts to finally sell out; moreover, part of VB was abandoned by selling off a substantial part of the property that was orginally to be used for an expansion). How well Aulani does will dictate whether they will even try another non-park resort. Aulani thus far has had some severe hits -- designating it as a DVC resort and construction started as the economy crashed; target purchasers included the Japanese and the earthquake has likely reduced sales success. I suspect we will not see another non-park resort for quite some time.

No, Castaway Cay would never recieve a DVC component. The logistics would prohibit it...how do you get members to and from the island...build an airport? Ferry service...think of the cost for a daily ferry....

I doubt the Bahamas would ever draw a DVC...maybe some other areas in the Carribean could. Disney would want to find a location with reliable/affordable transportation for the guests....lower land costs and good infrastructure. The closest thing in the Bahamas to that would be Nassau, but even they do not have great inner island transportation or tourist draw. The resorts there are not very sustainable on their own without relying heavily on the cruise excursoins......there are just a lot better options to receive a DVC component then this area.

I suspect Mexico would be more likely, myself. Cheaper flights, easier to get to, better weather year round. But I do expect something "foreign, tropical and easy airfare" shortly.

I would tend to agree, but with the current climate in Mexico I don't see them doing anything real soon....but might be a good time to pick up some land for a future resort!
