ok,
I know you guys are the wrong ones to ask, but so far you've been so helpful :)...and the DVC point board kinda scares me ..
I have some pretty infintile questions to ask aobut renting pts.:)

Our HM is the week of Sept 22/ 2003
We'd like to go for 7 days...
WL Villas

Are the points on the calculator PER night ?

:) thanks !
cheely

Okay ..
I'll give a studio example
9/22 ( Mon ) - 9/26 (Fri ) would be 48 points (12 points a night)
weekends get a little more expensive..
9/26 (Fri ) - 9/28 ( Sun) would be 44 points (22 points a night)

The total of the above would be 92 points - points usually go for $10 - $12 a point. That ends up at $920 or $1104 ( depends on amount per point )

If you have any questions feel free to ask..

Cheryl

Man ! That is so fanatastic !!!
Can I ask a few more questions????
:)
ok,
1. The person you are buying the points from makes the res. right ?
2. What's the difference b/wn a WL villa one bedroom and a studio?? Do the studios have the jacuzzi as well ?
3. How far in advance may I book ? Are ponits based on availablitiy?
4. How do I get a referance for the person renting their points to me?
What's the best way to go about doing that?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!
Cheely :)

I can help with a few of those as I am a DVC owner myself:

1. Yes - the DVC owner makes the reservation for you in your name.

2. A studio is basically a hotel room plus a kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, small sink area). It has a queen size bed plus a pull out sofa. It does not have the jacuzzi, full kitchen, or washer/dryer. The one bedroom would have all of that plus the master bedroom with a king size bed, and the living room has a pull out sofa.

3. DVC owners have two booking windows. Owners of the specific resort you are looking at (WL) can book 11 months out. Owners of any other DVC property can book WL 7 months out. Either way, you are able to book now for September.

4. Try the rent/trade board and ask some questions. I myself don't rent out points - too busy using them ourselves.

Good luck!

P.S. - Just my opinion - go for the 1 BR. My sister is having her wedding at WDW in December and we are all staying at Boardwalk. We booked her and her fiance a 1BR for the week and my family and my parents will be in a 2 BR. She is thrilled. I just can't wait for them to walk in the door and see how spacious and beautiful the room is!

Jenn !
You have helped so much !!!
Thank you !... and that 's so sweet what you're doing for your sis !!!
awwwwww :p

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!

Okay in this example I changed things a little
I checked you on on the 21st Sunday
and checked you out on the 27th Sat.
And I changed your type to 1 bedroom.

Jenn answered most your questions..
Regarding references you can ask for them -
My first rental I gave my ebay references.

I've rented out my points once and I rented points from another member once.

A one bedroom would be the luxury way to go. It's so nice to come back and have an actual living room area (plus that whirlpool tub is really nice). Even if you only can afford a studio, it's much nicer than just havinga regular room; having the mini-kitchenette is nice. You can make coffee and lounge in bed in the morning, keep drinks (soft or otherwise) in the fridge.

Cheryl ! That's perfect !
That's exactly what I needed !
wow !
155 ..
but still I am saving like 50% !!!!!!
AMAZING!
You guys are so great !
Basically, I have to get this ok'ed w/ FI , and find someone to rent points to me huh ?

Do you think September is an easy month to do it in ??

Will they still do the special things for our honeymoon ? I know I have to pay for extra housekeeping if I want it , but that's all right ??

Gosh, it's almost too easy !
wow!!!
Yes, you guys are right... we want and need the one bedroom !
Im glad I asked :)

well, it sounds wonderful !
How many one broom villas do they have ???
Will they be booked soon ???
I better get a move on, huh ?

Wait a minute... FRIDAY 45 POINTS !?!?!!? goodness !

How many months is it until Sept.?? I think as long as you book this month or next .. you should be okay. Not sure how many 1 bedrooms there are.

DVC might do something special and they might not.. its a toss up.

Ask the member that you rent from to put on your reservation that its your honeymoon, also mention it when you check in and whenever you make dining reservations.

What's the standard deposit to the person I am renting points from ?
How mush do they want down ??

hahah ! Thanks agian, Cheryl !
:)

yeah weekends are expensive!! I usually move to another WDW resort off points ( usually $200 a night w/code) or go visit my inlaws. This year I am going (GASP) offsite to my parents timeshare.

hahahah I WISH I had in-laws there ! hahahah
Does anything special happen on Fri nights at the MK ???
What's so great about Fri ??

:)

When I rented out :
A down payment of 25% is due upon receipt of the confirmation letter. This down payment is non-refundable. The balance of the payment is due 60 days in advance of checkin.

Basically the person should wait until you get the confirmation letter and then ask you for a down payment and then the balance before you check in.

Remember everyone has different policies. They should be able to tell you them in advance before the reservation is made if you ask.

Nothing really great about Friday- I think its to keep the Fl residents away :D Basically DVC has to balance the points somehow so they've decided to keep the weekends higher.
