OK, so maybe I was mental before we we bought DVC, BUT...

Hubby wants badly to go to DL for the 50th celebration. He has become like obsessed with Disney again! (Is this a good or bad thing, I don't know!)

So last night we sat at the kitchen table reworking our points. Now here is where I feel mental -

We're sitting there planning out through summer of 2006!
And acting like this is a normal thing to do... Is it?!? ;)

Then our use year is December, which always confuses me cause when we plan I'm actually referring to the next year. For example, use year is December 2004, but those points are really for 2005. Then we are in borrowing mode so this adds to the confusion. Plus, as we talk we keep asking each other now what trip are you referring to?

How many of us have NUMEROUS trips in the making at any given time?!?

i'm planned out to january 2006 :teeth:

jan 05 - just us and kids
sept 05 - taking my sis and her 3kids
jan 06 - taking dh grandma and possibly bil and sil

i thought everyone was this obsessive

:)

Nope! It's not DVC that's made you mental (and you need a better example, anyway because sorry, what you described is just plain normal - except for your DH being involved. That's not normal, LOL).

OK where was I? Oh yes, mental. The cause of THAT, is all that ironing! Yep! Ironing is what is NOT normal and it is definitely making you mental! At the very least, it is interfering with your DIS time! :p :teeth:

Best wishes -

Ironing at DVC

I know my definate Disney plans through 2007. I don't think that is too unusual:

2005 - Disney with our kids (K and 1st grade)
2006 - Disney cruise (1st and 2nd grade)
2007 - WDW with my family (2nd and 3rd grade)
2008 - Europe (3rd and 4th grade)
2009 - WDW again (4th and 5th grade)
2010 - Korea (5th and 6th grade)
2011 - WDW (6th and 7th grade)

There will likely be minor trips in there as well - most of them not to WDW - Washington DC, San Francisco (we are talking about that next summer), Colorado to ski and visit relatives, Grand Canyon, Mammoth Cave.

We had our 2006 year planned...til I found out about the school calendar changes! Oh well. It might actually work out better...now we can go in Jan instead of December for less points. Or maybe we'll bank them...DH wants to invite family sometime soon.

We're basically planned out by date through January of 2008. Point management is fun, but also some work!

I had had the last 3 years planned out 3 years ago because they had released a 3 year calander in our school. This is the contract year though and we still don't have a calander for next year yet and it is killing me!

Very funny CarolMN. ;)

Katie, that is funny! Last night we decided to go to WDW that first week in January cause of the new school calender, too!
(Katie lives near me.) It really actually worked out great for us DVCers. ;)

Besides taking the school calender into account, we also have to figure out if the trips we plan are too far apart cause we don't want to have to suffer from withdrawal.

OK, we are mental.

Welcome to the DVC assylum support group!!!!!!!:jester:   :hyper: :wave2:

Some people think we are crazy enough, loving Disney enough to go so often!!

We are definitely the elite of the elite!

Shan, have you checked cash rates at DL. It seems like the points are really high out there, for what you could pay cash for, and not be borrowing so many points. You might consider renting. I have never rented my points, but I might consider in a situation like this. That way you wouldn't totally blow all your points for a few nights. I can understand if you don't want the hassle, but it might be worth it.

I thought I was they only crazy one. So far I have planned through 2008.

2005: August (w/ Inlaws, DS and Family)
2006: Hilton Head
2007: Disneyland or WDW at Thanksgiving
2008: Cruise or Disneyland

We want to take the kids out of school but opted for end of August for a few years or school breaks.

Glad to know I am not the only one obsessed.;)

Wow, I guess I am not crazy (yet). I have only planned out till Nov. 2005. Okay, 3 trips in that time frame.

I love Disney and planning Disney Trips!!:wave2:

We have a trip planned for Jan 05, I just booked a golfing trip for DH and buds for March 05, I am waiting for the 7 month window to open up for our family HHI trip in June 05, I am also shuffling points around for a Dec 05 trip with friends where we will be borrowing from 06, then I should do a basic 06 plan to see just how many points I can borrow for the Dec 05 trip....

BTW I am thinking about an 05 trip (girls trip) to Disneyland, but we wont use points. I may rent some out to defray the cost though....

Shan...we really need to meet for lunch one of these days. :D

Hey! I just realized that I get to call tomorrow to switch our May reservation from SSR to OKW...I'm psyched!

Well, technically I guess I've got them planned out till 2042. I always book at 11 months, May at OKW, Oct at BCV and Dec at VWL. The actual dates vary a little each to coincide with getting four trips a year out of my AP's, but I always plan on being in WDW during those three months.

This DVC thing has made me absolutely crazy. I am even dreaming in my sleep about how to use my points!

My problem with planning so many trips in advance is that it just makes me want more points so that I can plan more trips and get my fix. We are now adding on and doubling our points, and we haven't even taken our first trip home.

It's sick, but so much fun!

ErinC, I did think about renting points or just paying cash, but I don't want the hassle and I figure we have our points to use them even if it is a bad use of points.
Actually, for the 50th celebration they have pretty strict cancellation policies! $100 even if you cancel the day after you make the ressie! Wow, even DVC cancellation policy for DL is better than that!
I guess we'll try to book right at 11 months out cause hubby just read DLH is already booked for most of next summer, if not all?
We're looking to go in June 2006, though. (See? Back to being mental...)

Katie, yes we do need to do lunch! :sunny:
We were thinking about SSR for 5 nights starting Sunday, January 1st next school year. What are ya'll thinking about?

I usually plan vacations on a rolling 12 month basis... right now I'm pretty sure I'm mental compared to the rest of you because I don't know where I'll be vacationing more than 8 weeks from now let alone 12 months.

We'll most likely do 5 night starting Jan 1st as well (we typically only stay 5 nights...which lets us get two vacations in per year if we're lucky). We'll probably book SSR at 11 months...and then see what's available from there. At that point, we will still want to try VWL, BCW and BWV. VWL might be kind of nice in January...but it's not DH's favorite. Seems a shame to book BCV since it won't be swimming weather!

DH doesn't know about my plans, yet! LOL! I am so ready to spend some time at WDW when it's not blistering hot outside.

I'll send you a PM about lunch. :D

I've looked ahead to my Spring Break in '06, we want to go to HH, and I've made a note when the 7 month date is call.

We are hoping our family of grandchildren will be old enough to begin coming with us, that's in '06, maybe '07, and I'm not planning that far ahead. I want to give them the calendar and say "pick your dates!" Just in case you are wondering, 1 child is nearly 2, 1 is nearly 1 and one isn't born yet. DS and DDiL aren't ready to brave WDW.

Bobbi:D
