DVC has completely spoiled me!

We just had 3 nights at Vero Beach & are now in another city at a Red Roof Inn. Oh my goodness - It is so inferior I can't even begin to explain! Years ago when I was young & carefree this would have been fine but now I just want my DVC. I think my tastes have improved. Definitely.

No offense but you really can't expect much from Red Roof Inn.

When we travel we stay Hampton Inn and Suites and while it might not be as large as DVC one bedrooms and up, their rooms on average are nicer than DVC studios as to size and cleanliness.

Been traviling for over 45 years and the best night sleep I have ever had was a a Disney resort. It's like being at home wit central air and kitchen, living and bath more like home.

I used to be an auditor for a national corporation and traveled every week. I stayed in Hilton chains, (Hampton Inns, Homewood Suites, ect). Never were any of them better than my DVC at OKW.

Nice enough? Sure, but absolutely not my DVC.

We travel a lot and DW and I have decided that DVC has completely spoiled us. We just got back from a four day stay at VGC at the DLR. The bed was so much better than our bed at home. We were in a two-bedroom villa and I absolutely love having a living room and full kitchen. Makes staying at the Marriott seem like camping.

I'm generally in timeshares 4-5 weeks a year (around 10-15 units, some just weekends), mostly higher end options. While we enjoy DVC for the on property, theming and generally ambience, I'd have to say that there are many resorts that we see as nicer than any of the DVC resorts. Within the next year we'll be in SSR, Wyndham's Panama City, Bluegreen's Fountain's and World Golf village and several Marriott's (Aruba, HH, 3 in HI, Orlando and Panama City). We've stayed at all of them before and I'd put DVC at mid pack (of this group) at best ignoring the on property location. It's not that DVC is bad, they're not, just that there are many very nice resorts out there as well. We look at unit amenities, size and quality along with pools and onsite activities.

DVC studios are more or less on par with a "good" business-class chain, give or take. The larger units are generally superior to more or less any regular hotel room in terms of amenities, etc. But that's sort of like saying that a minivan has more passenger room than a compact car. And, comparing the larger units to a Red Roof Inn is that minivan vs. a bicycle.

My problem with the Hilton properties is that every time we stay at one (usually one night only) I receive phone calls for the next several weeks from their timeshare marketing! It is really annoying! I have told them that their solicitation makes me less likely to stay at a Hilton property.

Really I have never gotten calls from them and stay in Hilton properties all the time.

I can't give DVC studios high marks because of the bedding. I hate sleeping on a bed without fitted sheets and the bath towels at DVC lately I have gotten lately were really thread bare.

We must be staying in different Hamptons and DVC studios.

No studio I have ever stayed at DVC, had soft fitted sheets, luxury mattresses, thick, plush towels, free breakfast, free newspaper, HD TV with multiple channels and movies, business center with free access to computer and printer.

I can appreciate the difference of the DVC total vacation experience versus a business trip but when you compare actual room amenities, especially studios then DVC comes up short.

IMO, DVC studios are the weak link. My normal comparison to them are the Marriott studios at places like Grand Vista. The GV studios have a king bed and silverware, dishes, etc.

Wyndham at Panama City Beach is really nice. When you are here do you stay in the PCB area or do drive down 30-A. 30A has some fabulous local places to eat.

I agree. We often stay in Hampton Inns and Homewood Suites, including a 1BR suite at a Hampton Inn for a lacrosse tournament a few weeks ago and a Homewood Suites in downtown DC this past April. I much prefer an OKW villa, and even the studio portion of the OKW villa beats Hampton and Homewood by having two queen beds instead of two double beds.

I have to say, the best night's sleep I've ever had(away from home) was in a deluxe studio at Jambo House. That bed just felt like HEAVEN.

I don't know, maybe it is from something I put down when joining HHonors, but it happens to me after every stay.

It may be, you might go into your account and see if you can uncheck anything. We've been HHonors for years and have never received a timeshare call from them...thank goodness.

If you have not been to Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Santa Rosa Beach all on 30-A you will be amazed at the difference. Except for two grandfathered in high rises in Seagrove Beach, there are no high rises, no chain restaurants along 30-A.

There are some fabulous local places to dine and shop.
