DVC goodies

We bought DVC last June, and when we signed the deal our guide said that he usually has goodies to give new members (lanyards, hats, etc.) but he was out at that moment. He said that he would box some up and put them in the mail. Well my kids checked the mailbox eagerly for several weeks after we returned from FLA. Nothing came. I assumed that they might be waiting for us to send in our payments.

Well here we are 3 months later, DVC all paid up and still nothing. I think the kids have forgotten about it, but I haven't! Firstly, it bugs me when people say that they are going to do something and then don't. And I'd like some fun DVC stuff.

I have thought of calling my guide and just reminding him (maybe he just forgot?) Or should I just forget about it? What do you think?

no, no...do call....we were promised a couple as things as well, but could take them with us do to another trip and we were leaving the next day....
and as you, nothing....so I did call, and come to find out that our DVC CM longer works for the company....I explained what I was promised, and a week later it was at out home....
SO I would call.....

We bought one contract and 2 subsequent add-ons and never got any "goodies". But then I wasn't expecting any either.

I bought all my contracts resale so no personal experience here. But I would call and ask. Can't hurt to try. The worst that can happen is you get nothing.

When I bought my first contract I was sent a DVC bag. Almost identical to the canvas bags you can get for X amount with purchase at disney stores. The only difference was the dvc logo.

That is the exact same (and only) "goodie" we got when we joined in 2006.

I got the standard issue canvas bag and print. There are plenty of DVC items for sale in the resort shops.

My "stuff and paperwork" came today and there was a really nice large insulated, zip-top cloth bag included in the package. It was a nice surprise.

It's royal blue with Disney Vacation Club in white and white Mickey heads running along the parts of the handles on each side.

(We've already nicknamed it the $xx 000 grocery bag - but we will also actually use it a lot. )

Don't get me wrong, I was happy with the free ice cream & snacks we got at the DVC tour place. I know people have gotten things like gift cards or fast passes just for visiting but I didn't visit DVC (or later buy) to get free stuff.

It's just that our guide said he would send us stuff and never did. And I felt bad for my kids at the beginning when they kept running to the mailbox checking. Now ds thinks that we will just be getting the "goodies" next time we go to Disney, and who knows maybe he's right.

I bought in February from Disney and didn't get a bag or anything besides my documents. I did get two great vacations this year from DVC!

I would call your Guide and ask about the missing goodies. When we added on during a Disney Magic cruise last year we got another canvas bag and ballcaps. Of course they were giving out the hats onboard during the Member's presentation anyway, but they are nice ones and would cost quite a bit if purchased. Last year they were solid red with the DVC logo on front. This year they are red with a gray "bill" ( same logo-and both have "MEMBERS" embroidered on the back. We also got DVC lanyards in a nice wooden box in our stateroom, so perhaps they have the lanyards to give to new members also. Never hurts to make a phone call even if other members didn't receive these things. Your Guide said you'd get them!---Kathy

LOL! My DH also called ours the #$&#* grocery bag...
When I showed it to him the first time he said something along the lines of "we're about to commit to how much time and money and they sent us a GROCERY BAG?"

We were just at the preview center to ask a couple of questions for a friend about Hawaii. They gave us all kinds of paperwork to take to them on financing points and charts etc. They also were kind enough to give us a grocery bag reusable to carry all the papers.

In my experince they will go that extra mile to help you out. If you were promised something call your person. If they don't help you out call the preview center and ask for one of the salespeople.

Right now I know they are giving out resuable grocery bags coolers. Normally they have hats and pens also.

Last year we on the cruise we got the big beach bag (which is the best) 2 pens and 2 hats.

2 Years ago I got a weird vinyl like bag, hats and a folder to put all your travel documents in.

They change what they give all the time and the stuff has been pretty nice. I didn't expect anything when we bought on the cruise but it was a welcomed blessing since we had too much to take back with us.

Magikkingdommommy, do you live in Canada? Do you live in an area where DVC can market directly to you, or do you have to purchase while visiting WDW?

If you have to purchase at WDW, it may be that DVC can not send ship "marketing items" to your area.

Yes, I am up in Canada & I did have to purchase my DVC while I was in FLA.

So maybe ds is right and we will get our goodies when we go down in Jan.

Call your guide and let them know when you are going and remind them you never received the goodies promised and your kids have been patiently waiting. I very much doubt (would bet on it) that there will be nothing waiting for you unless you call. Good luck and have a great trip!

Just drop into the Sales Center when you go in a few months. Shoot, you might even get some more ice cream out of it.

My sister was promised a gift card a couple of years ago. Never received it. The next time we all went, we dropped in and asked about it and it was in her hand in 5 minutes.

I dropped in just to ask one question on purchasing in Hawaii and I got ice cream!!!!

It was the highlight of the day, MMMMM love the ice cream.

They are so great at the sales office. Once I left memeber card at home went in to get my new one and they offered some OJ and muffins so nice of them.
