Just joined DVC. We are taking our 3 grown children with their spouses and babies and staying at SSR for a week. The men are avid golfers and I saw in my packet that we can purchase a golf membership discount for $50 and then 3 others can golf with DH and all pay $50 for a round of golf with cart. Has anyone used this? It sounds like a tremendous savings. It is as good as the active duty benefit for SOG.

Before I go and join up, need to hear if it's worth it.

Thanks!

I bought it in Oct 2005 and used it three times during that trip - I saved close to $200 on greens fees that trip and after the $50 cost to join - the savings was still close to $150!!!

I didn't use the free club rental or shoes portion - brought my own. But for greens fees alone; it's worth it. Especially since my favorite course is Osprey Ridge and that's the most expensive! You may want to check with DVC - I heard rumors that they no longer offer the free club rentals.

I have a trip later this month (I'll use it again at least two times) and a trip in April in which I'll use it so I'll add on to the $150 savings! If you have multiple trips during the year it is good - it is an even better deal!

DH is also an avid golfer. In a week long trip to WDW, I'm lucky if he takes one day off from golf. He bought the DVC card one year, but it's only good for tee times after 10:00, which he doesn't really prefer (although the savings is so great). This year, he has an AP, and I think the AP discount applies regardless of tee times so hopefully he'll still save (though not as much). Like the last poster said, the DVC rate is especially good for courses like Osprey Ridge, less helpful at Lake Buena Vista, which is one of DH's favorite courses.
