Just FYI
From DVCNews.com:
"This spring, DVCMember.com reported that, as part of a continuous review of cleaning practices in Disney Resort hotels, leaders determined that hand washing dishware and glassware in Disney Vacation Club studio units wasn't sufficient to meet the company's cleanliness standards.

As a result, studio accommodations at Disney Vacation Club Resorts in which glass-washing equipment is available began washing glassware and ceramic mugs in the glass washers, while stand-alone Disney Vacation Club Resorts switched to disposable cups (since glass washers aren't available at those resorts).

Disney Vacation Club leaders investigated the possibility of installing glass washers at specified locations within the stand-alone properties, and DVCMember.com is pleased to report that Disney Vacation Club will begin installing glass washers at those properties this fall.

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort are scheduled to have glass washers installed by Oct. 1, with installation concluding at Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa by Nov. 1. The glassware is, in turn, scheduled to return to the studio accommodations at these resorts once the equipment is installed."

Yeahh!!

I can throw away my "I've Been Mugged By DVC" mug and free up space in my Ownerslocker!:lmao:

I'll hold onto it for a little while longer;)

Thanks to all who wrote in and stood up for the membership and our homes:banana:

But if we stay at SSR before then, they will get us the ceramic mugs and glasses, won't they?:confused3 We're booked into SSR for a September trip.

Bobbi

PS. Between that fiasco, the new booking policy as it will affect special hard time bookings, and now having some concierge DVCers being booted, this has been a hard year to be a happy DVC member. I feel worn out from fighting the system.

Well, I guess the time I took every time I have stayed at a SSR or OKW studio to CALL and complain paid off! LOL! (Yes, I called and requested REAL glasses every time and once I went to the front desk and told a manager that this was unacceptable for anyplace that wanted to call itself "deluxe"!)

Again--- I am new here (pardon my ignorance)... how does an "ownerslocker" work?

Hi Teach! Ownerslocker is your own personal storage service. It is a paid service. You get a storage container, and you fill it with personal items you would like to leave and then it is delivered to your resort and picked up at the end of your stay.

We keep all kinds of items in it, full size toiletries, swim gear, spices, backpacks, ponchos, first aid kit, liquor, etc. It allows us to pack less and have the little things that make home feel like home.

It's an excellent service and I've really enjoyed having it. www.ownerslocker.com

Until they start putting them back, you can call housekeeping and they will bring you glasses. I did this in June at SSR no problem.

I haven't seen one of these! That's great!

I made it in Ceramics Class in SSR Community Hall! :rotfl:

Expressing angst thru my art:teacher:

My next piece will be a ceramic cowboy boot that says "I got the boot at AKV":lmao:

One issue down and how many others do we need to tackle.:thumbsup2

SSR bus issues with freeloaders from Downtown Disney

Abuse of pools

Reservation System.

A magazine for DVC members not Disney advertising.

Communication of major changes before they happen.

I think we can do it, keep those letters, emails and phone calls going in. We don't want the big wheels to get too inflated with the thought that only they can decide what "we" want.

We were there in July. We requested ceramic mugs and glasses twice, they never came. We had bought mugs to bring home, so we gave up and used them.

Ok...well we'll see how successful I am. I actually bring mugs from home sometimes because DH and I like larger mugs than AKV has. However, I am not going to carry glasses.Thank you. I think I will send MS an e-mail requesting that the mugs and glasses be there before we arrive. I wonder if that will work...I will try it.
